Some reviews of the present here album "Sailing to Philadelphia" by Mark Knopfler are being evil unjustified. I can not remember that Mark Knopfler with attitude something completely to provide new, innovative or groundbreaking, approached his solo career. The expected I frankly of a seasoned musician not necessarily. What we can, however, be expected of him, Mark Knopfler has more than sufficiently provided with his 2nd solo album. In addition to the usual very high musical level Knopfler we walk musically with him and some distinguished guests ( including James Taylor and Van Morrison) from rock to folk to country. Beautiful lyrics and beautiful arrangements to a very good recording quality are hallmarks of this album. What more could you want ?! Finally, I would add: Knopfler does not need to prove that he did it - he has it easy on it. How silly it would be if he is still trying with more than 50, to be hanging out the youthful exuberant Rockstar ?! Instead, he gives us in "Sailing to Philadelphia" a few nice quiet songs. Songs of them you realize that they were committed with a lot of effort and honesty. Songs that are an aging but by no means deteriorating rock legend full justice.
