As allowable voltage range for the power source of the manufacturer is a maximum of 3V. 14500er Li-Io batteries with 4.2V voltage are therefore not permitted. I recommend for a long constant brightness, the use of Ni-MH batteries (1.2V), eg from Eneloop. It must not only be Eneloops, also are from discounters Al.i or Li.l fine.
The ThruNite T10S is a quality product from a renowned Flashlight manufacturer with long experience. This experience makes itself felt not only in the good use of the product. The entire lamp including the on / off switch at the end of the lamp is made of stainless steel. This makes the T10S very robust and high quality at the same time. The switch can be operated without tilting feature positive.
To insert the battery (positive pole toward the lamp head) can unscrew the lamp head. For other lamps made of stainless steel, it can occasionally happen that the thread or scratch hakeln ugly. The T10S has no problems, probably because the threads are manufactured and lubricated sufficiently accurate. To protect against the ingress of (spray) water, the lamp is equipped with sealing rings made of rubber.
Operation is simple and takes place entirely on the single switch on the lamp end. For the connoisseur: it is a "reverse Clicky", ie a switch which makes the current flow when released again.
- Switching on and off by fully pressing until it clicks
- Lighting levels change when the lamp by (gently) half depressing (without clicking). Alternatively, you can also afloat by pressing whole until it clicks or head are loosened and tightened again.
3 brightness levels are available (light, medium, dark), which can be connected in a repetitive sequence from light to dark. I find it very pleasant that no disturbing flashing lighting modes (strobe / Disco) are available, distributed as with many lamps of Far Eastern origin.
In the lamp a modern CREE XP-G2 LED with cold white light without annoying color casts. The structured reflector (orange peel) ensures a clean beam with no rings or dark areas. The relatively focused spot (= center of the light cone) makes it possible to light up even in long distance of about 50 m. The light quality is really very good. The amount of light is absolutely satisfied. Much more can be derived from a single AA battery or battery currently not extract (have tried a lot of lamps).
The lamp itself quite well deserved 5 stars, but I prefer because of the price (currently ~ 40) a star off. The lamp is not cheap, but quality has its price up. Who buys cheap, must reckon with defaults or poorer quality of light, if necessary. I do not trust to the T10S that can glow without interference with her for many years.
