year a quarter I sent my old XP desktop computer in a well-deserved retirement and bought a notebook. Unlike my old computer, the notebook is a real rocket (Intel i7, 16GB RAM, Nvidia graphics, etc.) and when I had new I was absolutely delighted with the working speed, it is the starting Windows or other applications, or the Converting RAW images in JPG, or even working with UGS NX (CAD system), everything ran smoothly, quickly and cleanly.
When I had placed finish after a few weeks the new computer with all the programs I had on the old and some new features such as a more modern MS Office, I noticed first that the intended disk storage of the Windows partition had shrunk alarmingly, although I almost the same programs used as on the XP computer and had actually provided enough space.
The attempt to clean up the drive manually, I dropped fairly quickly, for therefore am I not professional enough and the Windows own System cleanup also did not create a lot of space. Furthermore, I noticed that the computer took longer and longer to start Windows and the shutdown had to be forcibly broken under various services (iTunes Helper exe, etc.).
The condition I had in the old carrot to satisfy and should remain in the new order. I invited my CCCleaner as Freeware down and tried it. The upshot: programs were not carried out properly and Windows hanged himself. So now back down with it. The alternative was just TuneUp what I then invited me down Amazon. This has once again confirmed that it is better to buy software and to dispense with freeware.
TuneUp is the first time about 10GB space made on the C drive, which Windows itself could not. Of course, one is told what is cleared and there is also information for which this data is or should be. Next, the processes and background services were scrutinized and TuneUp disabled / enabled services automatically now, as they are just needed. Result: the computer starts much faster again and again applications respond directly and fluently. I've just then eliminated some problems in the Registry and which I found really amazing. There was an entry for the startup of a program that I had already uninstalled. In the registry, I fummle rum only very reluctantly and that's why I would even probably never encountered it. Such little things normal users remain hidden and they slow down the system. Try after just one hour with TuneUp I definitely have the impression that everything is again almost as fast as in the beginning, when the computer was new. There are a variety of opportunities for optimization and improvements that TuneUp offers, but as far as I have not already explored. The interface of the program is clear and modern in design, there are indications, advice, recommendations and tips so that you can hardly do something wrong. The almost 18 I was now definitely worth and I think it is me in good stead in the future. The first impression is very positive and I would recommend it to anyone who even as a PC professional looks, but enough idea has to detect problems.
20141022 Addendum: the old XP computer runs now again and the hard drive has again air, the good thing!
20141029 Addendum: Recently I noticed that my optical drives are no longer displayed and the device manager was an exclamation point. The reason were missing registry entries. Even USB drives are no longer recognized, although the drivers were available and up to date. It seems to me that TuneUp in repairing the registry entries was a little too thoroughly. Maybe I would have the approximately 700 messages also need to study better and not everything should be left to the program. Had I but this problem also found, on closer inspection, I think is questionable, because the registry entries are quite cryptic for me. For that I had to play my computer from scratch, even if it was his own fault, I prefer retrospectively from a star. Here I would like to see greater transparency and more warnings. From the registry in the future I will only times the finger away and should I play TuneUp again, this will be a forbidden zone for TuneUp.
20141223 Addendum: TuneUp have not yet even been played by the new installation of Windows, because various other small items are also terribly annoying. For example, programs no longer start when TuneUp diverse background services on again when you are using, so I even have to restart the computer each. The space problem I have now also achieved without leading to shoot me. Windows puts many updates to restore points, which you can regularly delete time. Since then come together quickly 10GB times for which you need no additional software that makes the computer unusable a fast times. In the future, I will stay away from such programs, for me the anger is too big afterwards.
