Perhaps a few words in advance for publication: This is to Dark Horse Comics' luxury edition in hardcover and oversized. Roughly comparable to DCs Archive Edition, but with black linen cover and ensure no dust jacket. The pressure is very high, on strong glossy paper and as already mentioned in oversize. Approximately 31 x 23 cm, compared to "only" 26 x 17 cm in the individual comics and Trade Paperbacks. Added to this is that a hardback is also much more durable than one with adhesive or Heftbindung. For this, the Library editions are not exactly cheap and beat with approximately 30 - 40 to book. If you, however, about what you'd pay for the same content in the German publication in A5 format, they are easily worth!
Structure looks like this:
- Foreword
- The Mole
- Darkness Calls
- The Wild Hunt
- Sketches / illustrations
In between are also repeatedly artwork from the covers.
I think the content has not much to be said. Volume 5 contains the two Hellboy Arcs "Darkness Calls" (6 pieces) and "The Wild Hunt" (8 pieces), which belong in my opinion to the best Hellboy stories of recent years - especially "The Wild Hunt" , In addition, then the short story "The Mole" included in 2008 as far as I know as free comics on FCBD (Free Comic Book Day) was published. The stylized drawings are on the usual high level - you either love or hate the style.
Conclusion: For me personally until now by far the best band in the series.
Shortly what to send: Amazon has sent the band into a C4-book package. Kam but fortunately intact here, without scuffed corners or anything else. That's in book packaging always such a thing, a package would have been desirable here. Only for people who are interested, as sent Amazon such serious and high-quality books since. The Library editions are incidentally also sealed, which I think is very good because of the linen cover is quite sensitive to dirt / dust.
