Customer Review

I had Ember Sea invited to a concert in Nuremberg with my own band. As a former ardent human Fortress listeners I have been following from and to the career of the heroes of my youth and I am then on the Wikipedia article on Ember Sea hear a sequel. For a concert I had it on the screen, but because of the distance Hanover-Nuremberg I had never dared to ask me for almost a year. And lo and behold, they came. On the concert then there buy this album right, and I must say that I have also taken me Parcheesi equal to the new acoustic EP with them. This is not only a sensational live band, it is also incredibly nice people who live by their naturalness class come over without undue affectation and posturing - and show a lot of enthusiasm on stage. This really shows clearly on this album. Schade and incomprehensible that it has not yet become known to a wider mass, they deserve it anyway. With Human Fortress the whole has fortunately not much to do, because of the Power Metal Age I'm now outgrown.

Through my belt, I am now quite well come around in the Gothic underground and have also collected diligently CDs, and Nova belongs in this area certainly one of the front-runners. Quite to their credit the waiver of any overloaded Kitsch is by monumental orchestration, where the competition significantly more prominent female fronted metal bands a la Nightwish not get enough, and by which I think is the catchiness quite formidable suffers. In times in which these bands try compulsively each other to outdo show the bombast Ember Sea that it is not necessary aufzufahren heavy guns. On the contrary, nothing works here overloaded and thus difficult to digest, perhaps it's more already in the Evanescence direction. Anyone who takes it this eventually leads to boredom or monotony, is mistaken quite formidable. Because it depends on the melodies, touching on hidden intimate moments that one. And there are more than enough. While in most catchy melodies with the competition the impression must have heard that before somewhere, Ember Sea manages to prove the feat their listeners that they even hinkriegt earwigs, if you are not over the top production and avoids ausgelutschte but to copy proven clichés. Intricate but hearty little things that make ensure goosebumps on Nova clearly the special charm. The voice of Eva, who moves in very pleasant heights and not exaggerated operatic performing, and is one of the most emotional in the metal area that I know of, there also fits wonderfully so. Every note and every word touches the listener, and it takes you one hundred percent from what you hear there. Which, of course, compared to the performance of the other musicians is not to belittle. Through the skillful but not rampant instrumentalization combine Ember Sea rousing rock and emotional moments in a way, as I have seldom heard. Subtle but precisely because effective so. For this purpose, they present with you at the end of rotation again a real surprise, not only because the German language, but also stylistically, because here one goes from the classic Gothic rail in almost Subway-to-Sally-like plains, which surprisingly also works very well and fits into the overall picture.

If you would force me now to pick from this collection of catchy tunes, a special highlight out, then this would be in addition to the potential hit Coffin Heart (for which there is also a great video) definitely the almost mystical Wildhearted. This I had to listen consecutive times without exaggeration the first run 4, because I could not believe how such a sensational chorus riff. So what Nightwish no longer got on the series for 4 albums.

Conclusion: Anyone who stands on native, honest and unaufgesetzten gothic rock with a gorgeous voice, which is highly recommended, both on board and Live Ember Sea.
