I run the housing with a 3TB Seagate drive via FW 800 on iMac in daisy chain.
It seems to me to be somewhat susceptible to the new version with the FW800 USB3. The first case was from the outset generally mediocre transfer rates (about 45 Mb / sec while the older housing with USB2.0 is around 90-95 Mb / sec - a shame). After about 3 weeks of operation, the hard disk has been sporadically uncontrolled ejected what my iMac did not like -> Time Machine backup in Orcus. Later the plate was no longer detected (via USB3 port has also been found everything).
I have dipped the case, unfortunately, were it again shipping due to the part of DSP were not reimbursed (which I do not find items for this price range in order!). The conversion per se but was handled quickly and easily. Since I have the new housing again (about 2 months). Still only mediocre transfer rates but still no crashes / ejections more.
Unfortunately, there is in this perspective for the Mac fits not many alternatives, the quality of the older SK-3500 has convinced me more.
