I do not understand the rave reviews of the many literary critics about the book and the two that follow. I have just finished reading the three volumes, one more time, I do not understand! It's slow, neutral, flat; a succession of short sentences, exclusively descriptive; that's probably what one critic called "behaviorist writing" and another of "realism". but regarding the "addictive" and "exciting" side ... where is he? At best, this trilogy is documentary but that is not what I expect from a detective novel! No feelings, no personality. I was astonished appreciative rating given to this work (4 stars) before noticing that the best comments concern ... the state of the books received! Is it normal to mix the content and form?
I enjoyed a priori Irish authors (McKinty live!) And Scottish ... For the latter, I will think twice before hiring me.
