Ghost Of Tom Joad now are known to me since the end of 2008 and since then I have always followed the career of the band. To 'Matterhorn' times I was able to see them at the 2009 Festival Dockville and was completely thrilled. The constant change of the sound and style and the restlessness of the band quickly nachzulegen a new album I was very impressed. Now 2 years from 'Matterhorn' is now 'Black Music' in front of me. An album that has arisen after the second attempt, after the already finished songs were discarded. At first I was very skeptical. The album title 'Black Music' sounds very a hip-hop album and that would be the change then have been too much. Descriptions such as 'people, what a beat monster!' in Green Hell or '... HipHop typical Acknowledgements in the CD booklet' in the Visions knew how to unsettle addition. But fortunately Ghost Of Tom Joad still they themselves remained, but just slightly different: Instead of driving Schrammel guitar now prevail synthesizer and drums. The guitars are still present, but occasionally move in background. Through the distinctive vocals of Henrik Roger the band but still remains unmistakable Ghost Of Tom Joad. The melancholy feeling that already 'Matterhorn' could give the special twist is also still there. Total sounds 'black music', I would say, after 80 Wave with clear indie strikes the last 2-3 years. For me, a very innovative and unusual music that knows how to please quickly. Assuming you like the song. And the hits are not missing, very good!
