Paloma Faith presents its first CD ten exciting and versatile songs that are supported by a poignant voice. Already the first single "Stone Cold Sober" has pulled me in publishing under the spell of the red-haired beauty, which led me to buy the CD. Rockig and Roehrig: "I'm in a whole other dimension" - and has been first to the clock. Textually the songs should also find attention. All the ten song are written by Paloma Faith themselves and tell stories from their own lives.
For me, small highlights "Broken Doll" are (so languishing-beautifully sung, it is a delight to listen) and "Upside Down" (rocking up-tempo number addictive) and the wonderfully ironic "Romance is Dead" ( melodic and vocally: great). However, the ballad par excellence is "New York". A passionate and sad-metaphorical composition of losing a loved one to another.
In general, the CD is a quiet and melancholy at the end. "Stargazer" and "My legs are weak" are slow, but no less good songs, a Paloma Faith show here as well who should vocally among the bigger ones. At the end of "truth and beauty" it smashes us with "Play on" an energetic up-tempo ballad counter.
The many facets of her voice it is in fact, makes the individual songs so outstanding. Many artists seem consistently equal to their albums. Paloma Faith makes every song a little spectacle, so the almost 37 minutes pass in a flash and the audience directly would like to start over, you want to dive right back into the world of red-haired femme fatale and be enchanted. And the nice thing is: just press "repeat" and it goes all over again!
I am glad that I have heard the ten songs again, could change my own opinion and I now have a little gem between my CDs.
