Amazon and on the Swissgear / Wenger site are only the external dimensions.
The products available on the internal dimensions of the laptop compartment shield amounted 40,6 x 30,5 x 4,4cm.
The net internal dimensions are even smaller. In the height of the backpack (= width of the laptop) only about 38.5 cm are available as rounding and zipper prevent a higher packing height.
The backpack is indeed beautiful to look at and stable. Some 17 "notebook (which indeed many also up 17.4" measure or simply not quite slim therefore come) does not fit into it.
Annoying when the internal dimensions and the Nettonutzraum be concealed in the product description.

======================
The Swissgear / Wenger site were obviously overworked. Now (a good six months after purchase and return), it also provides the notebook dimensions. However, different from those which I then quoted the nameplate on product. Perhaps the backpack is thus now slightly modified. Care: What has not changed is the enormous round top, which prevents you long WHILE deep into notebook gets there.
Tip: There is also a Sony, the Sony Vaio VGPE-MB03 Backpack for notebooks up to 44.2 cm (17.4 inches). I've finally taken that matched - although I found the Wenger beautiful from design.
