Ideal children camera, but ...

We bought the EasyShare Sport C123 for our son (5 1/2 years) for Christmas. The camera also has thrilled us spontaneously, compared with special children's cameras to get here a much better picture quality. From the external impression produces the camera is very robust, in particular through the fixed-focus lens. This also ensures a low shutter lag, so all ideal features for kids. The digital zoom is sufficient to the son man the "my-can-also-zoom" to give feeling and still provides good image results. For the image quality we therefore awarded 4 out of 5 stars.

The handling is thanks to the rather limited range of functions easy to learn, even for preschool children. After 3 minutes, briefing our son could shoot photos in automatic mode and look again. Friends countless scene modes and to the last detail adjustable manual modes come here not their money, but should also hardly the target group the camera be. Nevertheless, the range of functions for everyday use is sufficient. Handling and functions therefore also get 4 out of 5 stars.

Unfortunately, the camera is useless for our son, because a crucial detail is missing: If you look at a video on the camera, so no sound will be played! This is available only when connected to the PC or TV. Since our son but love holds his experiences in (moving) picture and sound and of course mainly used the camera to view the videos, the disappointment for him was very large. Therefore, an exchange for a different model has been agreed with the Christ Child now ;-)

We have a total of the camera possessed and tested only relatively short, there are no statements on the robustness of us in continuous use by children. Likewise, we could not test the suitability for swimming pool's unfortunately.

The lack of sound is probably the water tightness due (no speaker holes). Unfortunately, this feature is not apparent from the product description, and also in the (not enclosed in printed form) manual you will find it even after some searching. There's a star deduction, otherwise the camera would certainly deserves 4 stars. In its price range it is also with the features "waterproof" and "rugged" relatively, well, "no alternative" ;-) ...
