First of all, you have to carefully rantasten to dealing with the pins. You have to press the stylus, and then enters the liquid wax - which can be quite a messy affair initially. If you have the hang of first times out, the pins are a great thing.
Especially small children's hands can work well with it and I was amazed at how focused was my 3-year old in the matter. She has really delved into the work with the pins and did not want to stop.
The only drawback I have to mention that the applied wax needs quite long until it dries and it thus can happen again and again, the smeared a motive when you come off accidentally. As long as the wax has not yet dried, you can simply wipe gently with your finger everything back and apply again. However, it is first dried holds everything bombproof - as it should be.
The pins are very economical and after using for 5 candles I could put aside for their next use.
