In a USA holiday I have tested extensively. Some pictures from this trip can be seen in my gallery. Previously I have mainly photographed with compact cameras.
The switch to the Samsung NX 1000 and thus a mirrorless system camera has fallen very slightly. In Smart Mode I certainly have never been photographed, because thus the power consumption to rise significantly. That's why I initially used the programs as the landscape mode or even the night program.
After a short period, I was also fast with the manual modes cope, which can still be very useful in specific situations. The image automatics put in bad light the Iso speed up quickly. About ISO 800 it is no longer advisable to take pictures with the camera, then takes the picture noise to too much. I almost always shoot in lower ISO numbers up to ISO 400. In bad light or when shooting at night I use a tripod and then at Iso to make really good pictures 100-200 (Example: Picture of Niagara Falls). My first impression of the US trip that was from the gallery: flight over Greenland. If you look at it with the PC on a larger screen, you can see quite clearly how good the image quality is (ISO 100). I was thrilled by this image and the image quality compared to the image quality of my predecessors camera Sony DSC-HX5V (compact camera with even slightly better sensor) or with the image quality of the Fujifilm Finepix HS20 EXP (Bridge Camera) that my company thereby had. A clearly visible difference even for laymen, not only for pixel viewfinder or in the photo test lab !!
The large, very good sensor and also the small housing and a very good price / performance were the main selling points for me and I'm still excited about this camera. Since I mostly use my camera while traveling or hiking, my weight and the compactness of this camera is very important.
Recommendation: For travel photography in addition equal to the 16 mm and 50-200 mm lens to buy, to cope with all shooting situations. Overall, this is of course a bit more weight than if you use a compact camera with zoom lens, but because you need not make the case (as in the DSRL'S) that is still acceptable for me. The camera with 3 lenses still fits nicely into a fanny pack. I have this one bought from Crumpler (Crumpler Light Delight Hipster 400). In cities such as New York, I was only with the 16mm lens on the go.
Sure, it would be better if they also have a viewfinder or even less noise at higher ISO speeds, but I did not expect to find in this price range a panacea and there is this all about?
I am very happy with the NX 1000 and can develop myself photographically because with the manual modes is much more possible and forgive for the camera very good four stars for price / performance 5 star, for a total of 4.5 stars (rounded up 5 star).
