One more thing first:
Who does not want to try out after buying this camera extensively, to photograph only the EXR Auto mode!
I wanted to buy a replacement for my getting on in days Olympus SP 310. (Review available). While this Olympus makes very good pictures with 7,1MP - but has a very low battery life.
I wanted a small compact. This camera is very good photos in low light without flash but nevertheless make sharp and detailed images generate in daylight.
From several sides my Fuji F100 or the F200EXR was recommended.
I decided after a few test shots from your photo shop for the F200EXR and bought the camera right there.
My impressions I describe here only bullet points - for the sake of readability.
POSITIVE:
- Compact design;
- Very fast turn-on;
- Fast autofocus;
- The IS mode works very well;
- Good battery life (approximately 180 images with me with the original battery);
- EXR Auto mode analyzes the scene and adjusts the camera settings to the best possible result (sounds stupid - but it works 99% of super good).
NEGATIVE:
- Weak light lens;
- With wide-angle shots, the lens recorded very strong;
- Camera tends to be very high ISO values (also in good weather recordings);
- Camera does not have iris with dynamic aperture values but only a pinhole system with two f-stops (fully open or fully closed).
- You miss the optical viewfinder at the latest when one sees nothing more in bright sunshine on the large display !;
- Occur when shooting at night with long exposure to very strong white pixel errors that are not calculated away through the internal camera software;
- The macro button on the camera does not function (on or off the result and the focus remains the same);
- Partly very getting used to the menu settings necessary to perform simple changes;
- Very poor video movie mode.
CONCLUSION:
The new image sensor of the camera shows its advantages really only at 6MP in HR Mode / EXR mode (the technique I do not want to explain here and go into too much detail).
Here very critical photos with very high contrast are well reproduced.
Here I come for the first time the noise at full 12MP resolution and 100% Play in Photoshop. Real freedom from noise and detail can be found only at 100 ISO.
Granted rushes the camera even at levels above 400 ISO is not as strong as comparable models from other manufacturers, but details such as the hair; Fell in animals; Foliage in trees etc. by unsightly artifacts and little detail, little color saturation and little brilliance reproduced (compared with the same consumption at 100 ISO). Thanks to the good anti-shake can also be in the dark still quite verwacklungsarme photos produce. Fortunately, the camera can be to values above 400 ISO limit, so 800 ISO or 1600 ISO images are made possible not only when the sun shines. The camera could also generate little crisper (sharper) images.
Actually I would like the poor video function does not mention, nor do this !!
The already mentioned Pixel errors do not go. This problem have other manufacturers also expect these problems but by software in the camera. Who needs the integrated Face Detection with subsequent automatic Red-Eye Correction is well served with this camera. HAVE FUN!
Good all-round camera with some weaknesses and few strengths but in reality not a high flyer.
Addendum:
There are now published two firmware updates that bring about some improvements.
The best change in my opinion is the white balance, which now produces more natural colors.
For more information on the firmware update, please visit the manufacturer's website by Fuji.
