Edguy latest long groove seems to polarize the metal community. Contributed surely also Voarbberichte, eg in the "Rock It!" in which already stylized "Space Police" an absolute highlight in 2014. But what actually came out of it? In my subjective opinion, is "Space Police" became a really good, funny and diverse metal / hard rock album that listeners will like that have stood also the previous "Age Of Joker" not averse to. Songs such as "Space Police", "Defenders Of The Crown" and the upper powerful songs "Love Tyger" are great and nestle with thick hooks and choruses in the metallic ear. Most of the other tracks do well to please, but I find the sudden entry of the opener "Sabre & Torch" not quite succeeded, "Do Me Like A Caveman" mediocre and the Falco cover "Rock Me Amadeus" superfluous. Also I would have liked a pass more stringent approach, a coherent "Space Police" story if the artwork has already been designed explicitly to it. As for the comparison with the early works of the band, you just have to say that there are Mr. Sammet and Co. have from the once manicured power metal style and it is "Everything is going and fun" in their alcove have homely furnished , Sammet Edguy uses as a kind of valve in contrast to the narrow Avantasia corset. Comparable to the Transsibirian Orchestra and Savatage. Personally, I think it would be great if Savatage would revive again, because they are contrary to TSO for energy, fun and more rock'n'roll river. Tight corsets lace musicians often from the air. It is therefore perfectly understandable that Edguy have fun and want to rock straight on. "Space Police" provides fun, is certainly not a high flyer concept album and not a milestone, like Helloween "Keeper Of The Seven Keys" or Rhapsody's "Symphony Of Enchanted Lands". It also fulfills not quite, the exuberant expectations as Gamma Rays "Empire Of The Undead", but it is an energetic, top-produced and varied album, where you even after many Hördurchgängen still can discover Great. I look forward to the live performances. 4 stars
