Before the actual review a few words about Steam_
I do not know if that has anything necessarily "too stupid to deal with Steam" to do with when here such problems occur.
I would rather speak here of "too stupid programmer at Steam" who do not manage to bring a sophisticated and customer-friendly product on the market. Times honest: these people out on Steam make money with programming, and then deliver something from?
Before I bought Shogun, I can already test it with a friend and am thrilled. And I said to myself: So what? Opinion Steam is. What the hell. Shall not be so bad. Now I say to myself: I'll never buy another with Steam protected program.
I would now not merely give Shogun 2 1 star. But with me, none of the methods for installing DVD described here has worked.
Steam offline questions and setup of DVD? Then I get the indication that the installation is only possible on Steam online. So none.
This "7-Step Method"? Does not work. I always get an error message, even though I have path and destination drive specified correctly.
Let's be honest, people: Can this be the right way that I will be a product or a game-license purchases and of the incompetent Steam people or publishers treated so? What I mean by that: There is an emphasis on the protection - I can understand. But it may be because that apparently no one has really thought about the ease with Steam?
I mean, how stupid must one be automatically offer a 17 or 18 GB product as a download, even though the customer has the DVD in the drive? How stupid you have to be, please, not to leave the customer with at least prior to installing the election and to recognize: Yes, he also has a DVD.
Perhaps the solution is really quite simple. For people who will be more comfortable with computers than I do. I want in my spare time but do not dig my way through several forums to find a solution for my problem. I'm not a programmer and even casual gamers.
I want to buy, install and enjoy a game. I think that's asking too much.
That is not here unfortunately.
I install it now via Steam (after three hours: 3 GB of around 17 takes ages traversed by several interruptions due to server overload.
As I said, I thought it over for unfair the game developers to give Shogun only 1 point. Shogun I rate it with 5 points.
Graphically: opulent.
Game fun? Fanstastisch - even if the AI sometimes actually hooked something ....
Only from capturing the magnificent Japanese castles is a completely new experience ...
But I have to deduct a point because the overall product that I bought, unfortunately, includes this messed previous copy. And this is a point deduction is still friendly ....
I sincerely hope that people on Steam for this user-unfriendly behavior get extremely negative resonance and perhaps learn from.
Just as a publisher, apparently wishing its quality control arg leaves something ...
