Processing:
Unbeatable, classy and high-quality finish ... it could not keep up, etc. Samsung, Acer, Lenovo. The display will not budge in the hinges, not a game .... just very high.
Keyboard:
I am with about 250 strokes per minute go and really have to say that my keyboard from Samsung S5 and the Asus liked most. I can accordingly some critical opinions do not connect. Quick stops, the device has, however, brings me cope very well. Furthermore, I can not confirm that if you touch only the corners of the keys is no feedback. So, I also here for the keyboard a perfect score.
Style:
Rein of the optics has addressed from the outset me the Asus. I never wanted another. I like the look very good ... it feels through the aluminum to very cold, whereby the heat generation does not make itself felt.
Hard disk:
This point has long let me test all Ultrabooks, because the difference between the Adata and Sandisk hard drive in many forums made for heated discussions. Unfortunately, I have only be carried out with equipment Sandata hard drive found in MM or south. So I wanted to first through Amazon Warehouse Deals try my luck and hope the device with the Adata plate exist. Well, by chance has anyone in my region, the device offered at a major auction house. I took the opportunity and informed me of the built-in hard drive. Hits a I7 128 Adata plate was installed. Through certain financial difficulties I was able to purchase the device with a lot of luck. The performance of the hard drive has been tested sufficiently and it is really unbelievable fast.
Processor:
Even the built-I7 processor provides good performance, although I have not tested all variates. However, there is no effort possible to play videos, surf the web, make downloads without the fan is noticeable. I will test next video editing Full HD video and report later.
Battery:
The battery life varies greatly depending on what processes are running. To surf the net via WLAN the battery lasts 6-7 hours. However, only on the second screen brightness level but this is more than adequate. Surfing, downloads, listen to music, and transfer data is already clear at the expense of battery life and keeps still from 3.5 to 4 hours. In my view, the only disadvantage is that the battery is installed firmly in the Ultrabook and thus can not be replaced. The charging time is about 2 hours!
Fan:
The fan, as long as he's logs times to speak almost imperceptible. The appliance heats up neither on the surface nor at the bottom, a maximum of a pleasant warmth can be observed after prolonged operation.
Touchpad:
Compared to my previous notebook Dell-branded it was already alone because of the size a significant change. I needed definitely an adjustment period in order to navigate with confidence. However, you get used to it very quickly and can therefore work very well.
Sound:
In a direct comparison with other vendors ultrabooks the sound from Asus has most convinced Bang & Olufsen is installed, the sound ok but you should not expect miracles. In second place came the Samsung for me.
Connections:
The connections are personal enough for me, 2 x USB (1 x 3.0), SD Card slot, VGA, LAN, however only with adapter and Micro HDMI exist. Annoyed me that it was unfortunately necessary to create another Adapter for Micro HDMI. The SD card look out about halfway, but do not really bother me.
Display:
Currently, I think in addition to Dell, the best resolution of all Ultrabooks. 1,600 x 900; However, a glossy display has been installed. Indoor and outdoor needs do not mind taking my definitely limitations into account, especially if you sit directly in the sun. For Schattenparker it should be fine
Accessories:
In addition to two VGA adapters Lan and a very nice bag still included. The power supply is also very space-saving.
Price-Performance:
With currently 1,100 euros the RV012 variant is not a bargain, and the comparison with the MacBook remains thus. However, since I am not an Apple fan was clear that Asus is needed. I saved about 35% compared to the current ex-factory price and therefore is for me P & L "very good", with payment of the current new price definitely a good, as we currently do not really keep up device.
Conclusion:
For me, the Zenbook from Asus is very well done which is why I say even a strong buy recommendation. What is something that bothers me that the battery is firmly installed. How long will be the lifetime remains to be seen but I remain optimistic. Who is ready to invest about 1,000 euros will definitely not be disappointed. However, would be a smaller budget to work with the Samsung S5 should look at, but what can not be compared, in my view with the Asus is also to get about 300 euros cheaper in the trade.
Difficulties:
... That have been raised here can be solved very quickly. eg the WLAN problem to fix with two clicks of adjustment in the energy options, disk Adata vs Sandata => here it will probably continue to be a gamble, because now only Sandata plates are installed. However, it also cut the weakest performance index of 5.9, the graphics card. The keyboard you have to simply test. I think you become accustomed very quickly.
Update:
Asus plans to soon publish the UX31A variant. Intended to follow rumors in the devices that are expected to appear in late May be Full HD displays installed and be the Ivy Bridges part of the configuration. Those who thus in a hurry does not have the new features of the A-series does not need and can live with the acute Ellen E series should wait. The predecessor is being sold off with a hefty discount as seen currently in the Ipads. So who can wait until June to do this and save a few euros, unless one jumps directly to the next technology train and wants to have the A-series.
