* Built-in GPS
* HD video with continuous autofocus phase
* Very good Live View with phase autofocus and short shutter release time lag
(Anyone who has ever tested Nikon D5100 or Canon 600D worse, appreciate it. The contrast AF on the D5100 is ok, that of the 600D unusable, especially during video recording.)
Additional comfort features are great (although not essential):
* Sweep Panorama
* Electronic level
* Multiframing (Multiple Exposure) for Handheld Night mode
* Auto-HDR with 6 EV difference and Mikroaligning of 3 Images
* 10 frames per second in continuous shooting mode
* Depth of Field Preview
* Good internal image stabilizer
But unfortunately, the A55, the following real limitations:
* Strong shutter lag with flash, with pre-focusing
The manufacturer confirmed uncorrectable,
not in Firmware 2.0, the new A35 has exactly
is for some reason not addressed in tests)
* Strong noise in long exposure
Image quality far behind D5100 or 600D Alike,
is rarely getestest, but was confirmed in at least one test)
* Exposure Bracketing +/- 0.7 EV with (too little for real HDR)
* Exposure and HDR empires not possible with self-timer or remote release
therefore shake-HDR in the dark impossible)
(* The known overheating problem with the video played with me so far not matter)
This result in the image quality is particularly surprising, since the Nikon D5100 (and also the D7000) the same Sony image sensor used as the Alpha 55 and thus partially (mainly in Nachttbildern) achieve significantly better pictures.
Therefore I have given the A55 back and hope for the Alpha 65. At least the lightning shutter lag should be there fixed. The limitation of bracketing / HDR, in my opinion still. Exciting is the noise performance during long exposures.
