Customer Review

(Last updated 23/06/2015 Android 5:01)

Looking for a new tablet I have the current models (10/2014) looked at and compared to me. In the short list came at the end of the Samsung Galaxy Tab4 and Asus the Fonepad and the Nexus 2013. I was already tuned me to opt for the Galaxy, when I saw at a friend the 'old' Lenovo YOGA Tablet. At first I was a little surprised because of the unusual shape, but then I worked a little closer to the device and was always enthusiastic.

After some research I discovered that just the successor YOGA Tablet 2 with significantly improved equipment (*) came out and had then ordered me this new model.

(*) Difference Lenovo YOGA Tablet (old) / 10HD + -> YOGA Tablet 2
============================================

- Instead of Qualcomm and MediaTek now only Intel Atom CPU (base clock of 1.33GHz to 1.86GHz short burst mode highly overclocked)
- Instead of 1 GB RAM 2 GB now (HD + also has 2GB)
- Instead of just 2.4GHz now dual WLAN 802.11 a / b / g / n with 5 GHz
- Instead of 1280 x 800 1920 x 1200 resolution now, the Pro 13 'has even 2660 x 1440
(The HD + had also already 1920 x 1080)
- Stronger battery (8 '- 6400 instead of 6000 mAh; 10' - 9600 instead of 9000 mAh)
- Stand-foot has been improved / increased and is now rotatable by 180 ° (Hang mode)
- Ca. 2mm thinner

Buying tip YOGA-10HD + / YOGA 2:
=====================

Who is mainly due to long battery life arrives, which should consider the 'old' YOGA 10HD + buy. In contrast to 'normal' YOGA 10 there has also been a similar feature

YOGA 10 ------- 1GB RAM --- --- 1.2GHz 1280x800
YOGA-10HD + - 2GB RAM --- --- 1.6GHz 1920x1080
YOGA 10-2 ----- 2GB RAM --- --- 1.3GHz 1920x1200

The Yoga Tablet 2 battery is indeed larger than that of his predecessors, and lasts longer than many other tablets, but nevertheless it achieved (eg due to the clear power-hungry Intel processor) not quite the battery times of YOGA HD10 +, which is about 10 - 15% longer.

Longer battery life ---> YOGA-10HD +
More speed -> YOGA 2

But otherwise the YOGA Tablet 2 has almost everything integrates what is currently currently:

GPS, Bluetooth 4, LTE (4G), SD slot (up to 64GB), IPS display with 1920 x 1200, 2 x camera (1.6 / 8 MP), Intel Atom 1.86GHz Quad Core up, Dolby Audio 2 Wolfson Master Hifi speakers and more.

There is the New Yoga Tablet 2 even as 13 'Pro version with integrated mini-projector (approx 1,27m / 50 "screen diagonal from a distance of 2m and WVGA 854x480 resolution).
As an alternative to Android, there is also a version with Windows 8.1 (BING version and 32-bit, and just as 8/10 inch, not 13). The 10 'Windows model is available with a new Bluetooth Keyboard Cover BKC800. (The old keyboard cover BKC600 no longer fit)

By 'thickening' on the edge (including the large cylindrical battery), the tablet is on the one hand very thin and on the other hand it can be very good in the hand. The built-in kickstand, you can use the tablet in different positions.

In HOLD mode the YOGA Tablet is comfortably held in one hand. By the cylindrical battery on the side and the perfectly balanced weight distribution, it is very safe and comfortable in the hand, even if it is held with one hand.

In TILT mode to work out of the housing of the YOGA Tablet a small bar that acts as a practical base and the YOGA Tablet ideally positioned when it still for on a flat surface deposits (eg on the table), but an ideal viewing angle would have reading or playing games. You can also place the YOGA Tablet but only on the side "cylinder", so that a slightly shallower angle arises. So you as a choice of different viewing angles.

In Stand Mode, the YOGA Tablet is placed upright on the kickstand, so that it is ideally positioned for example to watch videos. Since most of the weight is in the cylindrical base, this mode is very stable. You can even work with your finger on the screen, without the tablet falls.

The successor YOGA Tablet 2 has a 4 mode, the slope mode.
The slope mode, the kickstand is folded almost 180 degrees back and the tablet simply hung on the wall. This is especially handy when the tablet is used and you want to have your hands free at the same time. For example, in the kitchen with recipes on the tablet, on the treadmill at the gym, for the kids to watch video in the back seat in the car ... the possibilities are almost endless.

You can not only charge the device but use the stored energy also for charging other devices (eg MP3 player or smartphone) or connect devices such as USB flash drive or USB keyboard via optional adapter over the existing USB OTG port.

By placed on the front panel stereo speakers and Dolby Digital sound optimization yoga 2 has a very good stereo sound for its size.

Very handy I also find the installed tool 'Security HD' 'There is an app manager to remove, move or even freeze programs. Also you can adjust the programs about the rights (access).

So I'm excited about the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 and highly recommend it!

Neutral:
=====

° Exceptional design
° volume keys I had felt right meaningful

° Micro-Sim (most have probably even mini-SIM)
° 4GB problem (does not read NTFS, exFAT or ext3)

Update 10/28/2014
============
I have the Tablet now since almost 1 week, and am still very happy.
The volume is opposite my ASUS TF101 much louder and clearer through the two forward facing speakers.

The volume buttons on the left side, I personally find a bit impractical as if they were right, but that's a matter of taste.

An acquaintance of mine has the Yoga Tablet 10 inch with Cover 'I must confess as a' thick 'protective cover makes the whole feel of the Yoga Tablet naught because somewhere must indeed the part where the display cover down. Either you have it back somehow folded or lying around in front of the display. Some even the practical level is covered foot. That's why I signed up for the

PEDEA Tablet PC case black for 8.9 inches (22,6cm) with accessory compartment

This is very well made, padded inside with round studs, has an additional outside compartment for capacitive pen or other small items, and it even fits even the

Update 11/07/2014
============
Be careful when accessories !!!

Beware of the accessories' the accessories of its predecessor does not fit always to Yoga 2, since the devices have different sizes.

I have for example the (old) BT keyboard Over BKC600 for the (new) 10 'ordered me and had disappointed to see that that does not fit! At least for the version of Windows, there is already a new, more stable fabricated aluminum model BKC800

I have a screen protector for the 8 ordered 'and they also did not fit.

Yoga 1 8 '21.3 x 14.4
Yoga 2 8 '22.4 x 16.0

Yoga 1 10 26.1 x 18.0

SW Update 12/11/2014
===============
I now have a software carried out over settings' System 'About tablet' System Update Update.
Download about 7 minutes, followed by a reboot installation again about 8 minutes. Current version 141,105th
Everything went smoothly and I have a feeling it has become 'fast'.
I have in front of the task manager called it has always taken a 'second commemorative', now you click on it and despite 12 open programs he reacts instantly.

For the transport I have now bought the following chic compact bag:

DICOTA Bounce SlimCase gray-yellow for 25.40cm 10Zoll and 29,4cm 11,6Zoll notebooks

Update 11/16/2014
============

Yesterday I got the following protective film for Lenovo Tablet 2

Vikuiti screen protector MySafeDisplay DQCT130 3M suitable for Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 10 "Android LTE (crystal clear, scratch-resistant, dirt-repellent, very simple assembly, residue-free removal)

The attachment is in the size not easy, it takes a bit of patience, but it worked. When operating the displays me is yet noticed any restriction, continues to respond as well.

Update 11/19/2014
============

To complete my "equipment" for the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2, I now also bought a protective cover:

Fintie Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 (10 inches) Case Case Cover Case Shell - Premium Leather Folio Cover with Auto Sleep / Wake and Stylus Holder for Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 (10.1 inch FHD IPS) Tablet PC 2014 model, Navy

Under support.lenovo.com/de/de there are manuals, source code and the Lenovo Smart Wizard download (English / German).

Update 30.11.2014
============

-> 4GB / FAT32 problem

Anyone who uses an SD card in yoga and it wants to store files that are larger than 4GB, the encounters with the standard FAT32 formatting to a problem.

That's why I NTFS and exFAT, 7 which supports eg Windows, tried, did not recognize my YOGA however. Even a formatted direct with ext3 card was not recognized :-(

The alternative to using an OTG adapter and this insert a USB stick is then formatted with NTFS / exFAT, also led to no positive result :-(
It always displays the following:

'External USB Storage is empty or used an unsupported file system'

Update 12/07/2014
============

My 'old' Acer Transformer TF101 had an HDMI socket for connection to the TV, the Yoga offers unfortunately no option for it.
Since neither of used Intel processor nor the integrated graphics card Wi-Fi Direct are compatible, there is also no way to activate this function if necessary by root.
The Micro-USB interface is not capable MHL (USB to HDMI).

That's why I bought the following adapters:

Andoer Measy A2W Chromecast Miracast DLNA Airplay WiFi Multimedia HDMI dongle for Smartphone Tablet PC Laptop

This is identical to the more common, but expensive Beans Cast V2 and works on my YOGA 2 with a few limitations.

Update 01.01.2015 '64GB card (issue)
======================

I have now the SanDisk Extreme Plus microSDXC 64GB Class 10 memory card (UHS-I, 80MB / Sec) bought + adapter that works, after several attempts, now works properly with my YOGA Tablet!

Since Windows only 32GB "accepted" in FAT32, it was hard to format the 64GB card correctly.
I have tested it on Win 7 (64bit) with GParted, FAT32 Formatter and the HP USB Disk Formatter, everything went on error messages.

Then I took my old XP laptop - FAT32 Formater ran there also errors, but the HP USB Disk Formatter is functioning properly, but the card has been reported in yoga as damaged. Then the Guiformat tool with the setting Allocation Unit Size 65536 and used - it worked, yoga now recognizes the 64GB card with FAT32 as well as Windows 7 and XP!

Caution for USB power supplies!
=================
Yoga tablet should really use to load the supplied power adapter - Why? Because it delivers with 5.2V / 2A more power like many others. My other micro USB power supplies provide only between 500 and 1000mA. Even my charger from Belkin only provides 500mA, and since the tablet was still not fully after 1 day!
One should the supplied power adapter so not only as a "replacement" here, but that also recharge the device periodically, then it goes faster.

SW Update 12/01/2015
===============

Have now a system update to version 150105 (179 MB) 'ran smoothly! Release details what has changed I have not found.

SW update 04.04.2015
===============

The system update to version 150324 (85 MB) 'ran smoothly!

My Tablet running since buying problems, previously depended not on itself, and all applications run smoothly.
Also as far as the quality and battery life, I can not say anything negative, it creaks in my device nowhere. So I am still completely satisfied!

SW Update 06/23/2015
===============

For several days, there is the Android update 5.01 for the Lenovo Yoga Tablet!
The update took me with download and installation approximately 1 hour.

The new version is stable and some liquid as before, even my existing lately WLAN problem resolved itself, it works correctly and stable.

The task manager I find much more compact and user-friendly.

However, some programs no longer exist (probably not compatible) and you have his desktop again completely redecorate.

Existing data and markings eg in EPUBs still exist.

All in all, a clean and recommended update that brings the tablet back to a more recent state.
