That in my opinion currently the best in the entirety tablet on the market

Acquired I have it shortly after launch for a handsome price of 650 (and as you can see, it is at least so far remained fairly values ​​stable since the price has hardly abated) That's a lot of money for such a "Mini / Handtachen PC", but let's see what you get for it and what you can do everything with it:

Unlike (I suppose) to many users, so a device, but I use it to 80-90% at home. It takes me mainly used as / for (s):

- E-Reader (property / trade books, comics, all cross-border)
- Couch Browsing
- "Remote Luxury" my entire home theaters (there are for all four of my home theater devices an app by the manufacturer) The advantage in comparison to the real FBs these devices is above all in the fact that it is beleutet.
- Cookbooks in the kitchen.
- Occasionally, for games (it is in my case nostalgischermassen almost exclusively to retro titles like PacMan, Galaxian, Broken Sword, Z, etc.)
- Note list (especially when I'm on the road)
- Sometimes for watching TV programs via ARD / ZDF media library at locations or in situations where no normal TV is available.
- Occasionally, to stream video (virtually, of course, particularly pleased that you can upload it onto the tablet and thus take on the road)
- Listen to music
- Remote control of my home PCs (via "Splashtop HD Personnel")

You can use it of course, do much more. For example, you could (if a G4, ie mobile option is available) to use as Luxusnavi in ​​the car (with an appropriate holding device) but I did not want to spend more money on those (rare essential purposes) and in particular conclude an expensive mobile contract, which is why I decided against this LTE / G4 variant (it would again cost almost 100 surcharge)

The decision to 64GB memory I have been thinking plentiful and I finally decided on the appropriate charge. It is true that with me, because as I said primarily use the device at home, where everything anyway can be streamed via Wifi, not used as much memory, but if you nevertheless times on the road and want some take on reading material, music and especially video, then a generous storage cushion course fully exploit its strengths and make then pay! (It all depends always depends on what you, the device mainly used)

The most impressive thing about this device is undoubtedly the indescribably good / quality display for me. This stands at 10 "with a resolution of 2048x1536 pixels or pixels (this corresponds to a total of about 3 million pixels, more than even a huge 55-65" full HD TV offers) in addition to the very good color, especially with a To date fabled pixel density of 265 ppi. The result is then also clearly visible in the form of a razor-sharp, ultra-fine resolution and crystal clear presentation, which is also the smallest of text to the eye very relieved and thus the fatigue while reading strongly counteracts the readability particularly with regard to ergonomics. We have here in fact the quality of a high-quality print product.

I have a home next to this device / display for comparing a 46 "TV with the usual Sogn. Full HD resolution (1920x1080 pixels / pixel) and a 30" TFT monitor on a desktop PC with a fixed resolution of 2560x1600 (the but equal because of the much larger screen size then just only 100 ppi) and this view compared to the display of the iPad 4 will also steinalt from (you can see here on clearly see the difference a high pixel density and thus "the future" of the displays) Really impressive. (After you have no desire to add itself even full HD devices, or even those with 2.5K resolution, if you have seen this difference in first practice) ;-)

The quality of the two integrated cameras maintains, by contrast, limited. In bright light you can still get into being a very good picture quality, but in the dark or in low light it then just being too soft hail!

The sound quality of the existing (mono) speaker may be referred to only as rudimentary and sounds generally quite tinny or trötig (fortunately there are of course a headphone output or you can via Air-Play at home even the home theater system as an alternative to sound output use)

I had "time" the choice between the iPad 4, the Nexus 10 of Google and at the time also new Surface Pro Microsoft: After extensive research and consideration, I have finally for this device here decided (my first Apple product ever ) because it seemed to me to be the best in the sum of the positive properties:

- Apple devices are always in the excellent reputation to work very reliable (meaning not only the device itself and its operating system (now iOS 7), but also about the applications, without which a tablet is pure nothing worth ultimately of course) In practice, I can do this because according to my now 9 months of experience with the device (use it daily) fully confirm.
- The AppStore has the greatest variety of different variety of applications (Apps), and to the best prices (and there are even much free, whether permanent or temporary deals you get)
- It is possible to pay tickets for recharging the account convenient / convenient to gas stations, shopping in supermarkets with cash, so you are not reliant on a credit card, as with Android / Google or Microsoft (not everyone wants a credit card, for various reasons but without a few essential apps that you then just often but have to pay, even if they cost "only" 99 cents or a few, you can start with the little tablet and its potential to avoid pushing far)
- If you buy an iPad 4 with 64 GB memory, then you have in the new state actually almost this amount of memory available as the operating system itself takes up very little memory in claim (other than, for example Microsoft's tablet where as one of Windows is accustomed to already on it goes only to the operating system a lot of hard memory, so that, for example by actually 64GB is not much left and we therefore ultimately have to buy a tablet with more storage compared what is of course more expensive again to obtain a similar result)
- The battery of the iPad 4 holds in the face of for such a type of device and by today's standards quite passable performance (processor / GPU) and the high-resolution Retina displays in mixed operation (surfing, watching movies, games), after all, good 12 hours (Charging takes about half as long) By comparison, the battery is a MS Surface Pro for only 4-5 hours yet!
- The high-resolution Retina Display is because of its very high pixel density as has been said of Hammer. This makes the iPad is - especially in conjunction with the lowered to a minimum of 4% brightness (backlight) - also pretty good as eReader or indeed for reading via browser and reading is of course in principle anyway one of the main activities of the one with such a device practiced!
- Even if it "outdated" anmutet (in view of what one knows already used by other devices today) is the 4: 3 aspect ratio of the display for the use of this equipment more appropriate than a 16: 10- (Nexus 10) or even 16: 9 widescreen format (MS Surface / Pro) In particular, the portrait mode makes it clear more sense (the iPad looks ultimately of how a digital blackboard) The downside, of course, that one of the widely used today when watching / übichen films and series in 16: 9 format "wastage" in the form of the well-known black mourning edges (bars) above and below has (there is the possibility zoom in the picture, but of course in turn entails loss of image information on the lateral edges of an image to be) But so can I find pretty good live!

I've certainly forgotten still a lot, but they were probably the most important for my purchase decision compared to the competition points ...

Criticisms:

- It might be a bit easier
- It could be a bit thinner
- The battery may last even longer (but technically probably not currently possible)
- The speakers could sound better
- The cameras could offer an even better picture quality
- Native Flash support for the browser (Safari) would be given the unfortunately still unavoidable many Flash applications (hopefully you climb anywhere soon finally on HTML 5 to) more than helpful. When in doubt, it is forced to alternative browsers such as Photon recourse (which this offer as a special feature) which unfortunately are not exactly brilliant. As another reviewer wrote a long time before me, such a tablet is ultimately a luxury item that you do not necessarily need. If you have it, however, and become accustomed to it can one due to its extremely flexible and multiple uses in many "little" everyday matters and especially for those applications for which you would never use a laptop or even a stationary workstation PC / could good services prepare prove and a lot of joy.

It is always portrayed in certain circles, as if it were this device is a kind toys, but in truth it is of course depends on how you use it and what apps you have running it. In no case may a tablet replace a desktop PC as a workstation or even a clever notebook (as reputable Arbeitsplatzrechern) if only because of the lack of multi-tasking capabilities in the display (the display is far too small / tight) but above all because of diletantischen input options via on-screen / touch keyboard (who dominated the 10-finger blind typing, which can only smile about pity, because it so you really only this keyboard takes approximately 20x as long to type a text with the same number of letters, be regarded as a makeshift. Long typing "serious" texts it would be a pain and would thus take ages
But: As a mobile / flexible and therefore (in conjunction with corresponding practical to smart apps, executives) vielseitigst usable handbag computer, as a kind of "Swiss Army Knife" among PCs, as I always call it, can as a unit ready and a lot of joy provide or provides a great complement to represent local, stationary PC and / or laptop very useful services!
