First of all a short Pro / Cons:
+ Image quality (HDMI and DVI)
+ Optics
+ Connectivity
+ Clear OSD menu
- Very sensitive to dust
- OSD menu with the keys hard to use
- Only analog D-Sub cable included
Image Quality:
Subjective image quality convinced me very much. It has often been criticized by other buyers that distinct halos occur at the top and bottom.
Since this monitor has no LED backlighting, this is normal, and when compared to other monitors that I did not look up now
remarkably strong. In normal lighting conditions you can tell them, at least nothing.
I strongly recommend in any case, be mitzubestellen a DVI or HDMI cable is the only way a flicker-free and sharp image can be transmitted.
It would be interesting, perhaps even that the image adjustment function well in certain situations exert a visible positive effect.
The dynamic mode and responds quickly detects image situations correctly.
Appearance:
The monitor is kept in black piano finish at the front and at the bottom. This makes it also suitable for the living room but at the same time sensitive to dust.
The back is slightly sensitive by matt plastic.
The BenQ logo is highlighted metallic. The Power LED lights up in standby orange and green when the monitor is on.
I find visually interesting the control buttons on the bottom right, as they "hang" asymmetrically on the monitor.
Connectivity:
Analog D-Sub port, DVI and HDMI connector. These probably nothing more to say, everything you need. DisplayPort is indeed on the rise, but will probably not before 2015
play major role.
In addition, there is the left side below a headphone jack, which (with newer ATI cards even when DVI) outputs for operation with HDMI cable, an audio signal.
OSD menu:
The settings menu is clearly designed and visually pleasing. Only the operation with the buttons is used to, as confirmations must always be done with an extra key.
Conclusion:
A really good all-rounder, with which one can be quite satisfied. Especially since the price is really unbeatable for what is offered.
So far my best monitor, both for games and work with office applications.
However, even a quick tip to manufacturers in general: Please to pass instead of the analog cable equal to a DVI or HDMI cable attached.
Alternatives: BenQ G2420HDBL. Same monitor but with LED backlighting and thus even better picture. BUT: No HDMI port!
