Connie Francis is a particularly popular victims of the lack of competence of the administrator of the backup catalog. Again and again, the same 20 - 30 "Greatest Hits" slapped on single or double CDs and sold off literally. As with this double CD "Gold". Everything ever been there - and the countless times. But what fan - and there are still very many - need for the thousandth time hits like "Stupid Cupid" or "Where the Boys Are"? Sure, they are always happy to hear, but because they are so frequently and often appeared much cheaper on CD, is "gold" just a sham.
For Connie Francis has not just these 25 - 30 Greatest Hits added, but still and 2,000 more songs in fourteen languages, and several hundred photographs have been waiting for more than forty years on their first publication (!). In addition, only 48 US-LPs from between 1958 and 1969 will be re-released by those erstaulicherweise only the first 10. But where is the CD re-release of the artistic milestones in Connie's like creating the albums "A New Kind of Connie" in 1964 or "Happiness - Connie Francis on Broadway" in 1967?
The title of "Gold" which discussed herein compilation would actually only earned when here at last real gold pieces like "Masquerade", "I parapioggia di Cherbourg", "Wonderful, my love" or "L'hiver sera longue pour moi sans toi" they saw their world premiere. But as this compilation is interesting just yet for the few new entrants; the real collectors, however, now feels downright verschaukelt.
