It happened to me the same thing by cleaning my stylus intuos 4, it opened and there: LA CATA! Unable to deliver anything and trying, everything is destroyed, a spring jumped brief the cat as I said.
So, although obliged to buy! One question: if I have the intuos 4M tablet, do I need to reinstall provided a driver for the stylus?

A tip: never pull on the two opposite sides of the stylus as it opens, you are good to buy one!
