New skills for soldiers
There have been inserted, of which two mutually exclusive and that any non-MEC soldiers can be missed 8 gene modifications. Sounds exciting, redudante skills as "Regenerate 6 HP" are in effect, but or "get 5 accuracy / crit chance of deeper targets". MEC units are a new class soldiers and enrich the game actually in terms of their talent tree. However, they annoy by their ridiculous robot voice and the general Transformer-tinged style. Who the melee finishings moves MECS help regarding the game atmosphere, which it was granted. I find it useless and unnecessary. Worth mentioning is also that MECs make known from the main game SHIVs practically superfluous.
New weapons and equipment
Disappointingly, there are few innovations in weapons. For the normal (non-MEC) soldiers there are still only three weapons Level (projectile / Laser / Plasma). The alleged new weapons (Minigun, railgun, Particle Cannon) are their counterparts for the MEC soldiers Class. Projectile and laser weapons are even in the EXALT variant available, but their stats are identical to the XCOM weapons. Admittedly there some new pieces of equipment, of which find most but hardly practical applications. Since you only a maximum of two pieces of equipment must take into battle with, you will not really invited to experiment.
New enemy threats
There are exactly two new Aliens who are also only supplement classes. EXALT, the new terrestrial threat, some pepper brings in fact in the game, among other things because it brings a new type of mission with them. This uses, however, also from ... pity it would have longer needed.
New strategic resources
Imagine, they build an addon and make the player a few new skills available that it is not to use too excessively, because otherwise he is too strong. How? They provide the skills at the expense of a "new resource" available. They could now think of an exciting background story for this resource and they take root deep in the game mechanics. That did not happen with MELD.
For certain types of missions, two MELD canisters are easily located on the map, which expire after a certain number of laps. That's it. RMS is the promote a pro-active approach, which can lead to tension, especially in the Iron Man mode. The explanation why MELD is on the battlefield and but why is it breaks down, at best, semi-silk and so irrelevant that I have every now collecting the forgotten.
New tactical challenges and Maps
At this point no new strength will be added, but only mitigated a great weakness of the main game. Worth mentioning are the EXALT cards and XCOM base defense, since a new procedure is displayed. Of this it really needed more.
New maps, units and abilities for the Multiplayer
Some games need in my view simply no multiplayer. Point. Why not leave a comment.
In summary, I had a good time 20 game hours for approx. To play through my motivation is missing just before the end. Who loved the original and was also disappointed with the long-term successor, Xenonauts should give a chance.
