Oh man, I honestly hoped that at the similarities to Harry Potter ultimately looks different than it seems at first glance. Well, too early happy.
The similarities are really enormous, I count times some of herausstechend on:
As Harry has also Callum (the protagonist) lost his mother when he was a baby.
As Harry Callum suffered as a baby a lasting wound from the war of magicians
Harry has his scar and Callum is the leg that also from time to time plagued him like Harry scar with pain.
The antagonist in the book called '' Enemy of Death '' which when you think about it a bit Voldermot perfectly describes.
And now just look at me, how this '' Enemy of Death '' is described in the book:
'The Enemy was a great - maybe even the best - but he went crazy. He wanted to live forever .. ''
Chapter 4, page 54
Not to mention that the Enemy of Death was even student in Magisterium once and even then operated his experiments.
Then the ends, it is stated that the Enemy has of Death when he died his soul into the body of baby Callum transferred to halt be able to return sometime.
Um yes, Voldemort + Harry as Horcrux.
And then there are also the many characters who simply want the same or at least similar personality who like characters from Harry Potter.
Callum and Jasper (an other students) are as Harry and Draco rival. Jasper was before the war even filthy rich.
Aaron is like Ron of cheerful buddy.
Tamara's like Hermione pretty smart, though not as besserwisserisch.
Usw.ect.pp.
As for the magic, I'm also a bit disappointed. Because I had rather expected something in the sense of '' classical '' magic, with magic spells and potions etc.
In Magisterium however, students learn more, the elements (ie fire, water, wind, earth and chaos) to master and use in their favor.
I was the whole being evil to the tamer capabilities of Avatar - The Last Airbender remembers what has now not really a lot to do with magic.
It disturbed me that you will notice as readers do not really have much of the teaching. Here and there the students of course have to prove themselves, or get something mediated, but really arrive in the Magisterium and so really be once admitted into the world of magic, because no one will.
There are no subjects, but each teacher (here called Master) taught his own little group.
Properly stupid it is that simply times the weeks go by without something happening.
There is everything somehow skipped.
And then the thing to think with the Makar (i), the word is a variation of Maker, and describes those magicians who have mastered Chaos Magic, however, I had always kind of monkey xDD
Macaques or still hot.
As for the characters, well, really interested me honestly do not have any.
Just because the protagonist trio simply times a boring light version of Harry, Ron and Hermione.
Has been missing me a bit of the tension, so the last four chapters are really cool, but before that it is really boring and just not well, magical enough.
The big problem of the book, however, are not at all times that many overlap with Harry Potter, but rather that Cassandra Clare is one of the authors.
Who a little concerned with the woman quickly discovers that before her debut as a professional writer (at that time she wrote still Cassandra Claire), a rather large number in Harry Potter fandom was, where she is a, if not the most famous Harry Potter fanfiction wrote.
Now, however, depends on the time an endless rat tail of a plagiarism scandal, and Internet bullying that it has operated, and all that are giving this book just a very bitter aftertaste.
Therefore, it annoys me so much that all somehow just scream: '' Ohh, Cassandra Clare once wrote something else (which they do not have the basic xD) something without her Shadowhunter ''
And Holly Black (which for me personally, the better writer) this total goes down.
I mean the last book by Holly Black came out a year ago and the next one in 2015, while Cassandra Clare has pending books until 2020!
More attention to Holly Black please!
Well, what to say in conclusion to this book, Cassandra Clare has managed to publish her Harry Potter fan fiction at a publishing house.
Those who do not bother to the similarities to Harry Potter, or generally a fan of one of the two authors (or both) is that will surely read the book anyway.
Read it can of course very well, both authors write, but what the story, which concerns characters and things like tension and humor, one should not expect too much.
