Before starting a few general things: The Engine of Black Ops 2 is no longer appropriate. While Treyarch manages the one or other graphic delicacy, like the flight of the glider, for example through the tropical valley in India, but the overall impression of the graphic more than satisfactory. Here Treyarch / Activision has lost connection to the competition. The game engines the EA has to offer (Frostbite 2, CryEngine 3) are compared to CoD engine to be set at least 2 higher leagues.
The sound in Batman's fantastic. Very excitingly stored music in the missions bring some what the engine sifted out again. There's really nothing to complain about, Top!
But Activision unfortunately returns to old vices: NO DEDICATED SERVER! I know, I know, the issue has been discussed countless times. I'm an old PC gamer but again and again sour stink when I hear that there will be no way to be able to run your own server. Gaming communities with 20 or more permanent players remain fully on track. No dedicated server, not your own matches (in many gamblers). No modding tools, no own cards, no nothing. I am totally disappointed in this regard. Without the aforementioned Community develope opportunities Games dying out much faster. Only greed, only more and more sales through ridiculous DLCs and company do not reflect well on the billions Group Activision, just sad.
But cursed enough we come to the single-player campaign: A big plus of Batman has always been the story of the single player campaign. Especially the story in Modern Warfare 2 I found terrific. Black Ops 2 has not exactly covered itself with glory here. The campaign plays out quite nice, the character guide is fine but not outstanding, the story itself I find, however, relatively uncreative. An old veteran forward the story and accompanies them with stories of the past, once again attempted a terrorist to destroy the West. The much heralded innovation of the future with futuristic weapons and vehicles is not necessarily the end of last very impressive. Many "innovation of technology" is a familiar feature from other games. Especially on Crytek's Crysis is Treyarch developers have served plentiful. For example, the VTOL unit from Crysis 1 was taken one on one. Even the appearance seems equal. But some should be more expected to "innovation" for such a large development studio Treyarch and as a zahlungskrätigen publishers like Activision. Known for CoD "grand finale" of the campaign is pretty lame. The player also highly praised freedom was far too scarce implemented. I've played through the campaign almost 4 weeks ago and now I can just remember 2 situations by I had the choice to kill someone or not. Really huge freedom of choice ...
Should I use the campaign in the traditional system of 1 (very good) to 6 (unsatisfactory) to evaluate, I would give a smooth 4, since I am of CoD really better used.
The Multiplayer: Actually, the best discipline of CoD. Yes, CoD Black Ops 2 is fun and yes I zocke today still enjoy a round or two when I get home from work in the evening. But the Innovationslosigkeit of Treyarch's embarrassing. One has the feeling as if the old multiplayer of Modern Warfare 2 taken, was a little aufpolliert and sold as new integrated into the game. The "improved killstreak system" is not improved. It was highest extended by a couple of kill streaks. Moving from kills to get points to Abschusserien, I like that. Now also assists, Bomb Planting and -Defusing help kill streaks to get bonuses. But the "all-new multiplayer experience" is in the end only "a patched version of its predecessor".
The bombastic also announced all-new class editor who shoots the individual gaming to a new dimension is ridiculous. The weapons, equipment, grenades, extra Giers, etc. are taken without exception. There is not a single Gier, a gun, a grenade, which was not at some point to find a predecessor. That one now can pack instead of 3 Giers may 4 Giers in a class, unbelievable! That one takes only a visor and a laser pointer still can additionally take full metal jacket bullets, just fantastic! I am impressed with what to days everything is sold as an innovation today. Super Mario was innovative, Crysis was innovative, Battlefield 3 is innovative in many respects, yes I care was even the Red Edition Pokemon innovative, but Call of Duty Black Ops 2 is innovative in any way. Instead of millions of dollars for expensive commercials issued to Primetime, Activision / Treyarch would quiet one or the other million are stuck in clever Storybook writers, graphic designers and game designers.
The maps in CoD BO 2 are good but not really gripping. Exciting I find the Map "Express", a copy of a modern railway station although even here there is a lot of similarity to Map "Airport" from MW2. Otherwise, there is not really much to say about what is already known from other Cod. Once again there is countless prestige levels, a variety of undenliche senseless dogs Markten, Emplemen and titles and otherwise much useless stuff
The league system is actually a nice thing though is is not really captivating. The road to the Platinum Division (top league) is not really hard. 1st place in this league is but a challenge.
A big plus I must proclaim but I am still met a single cheater, I find it very commendable.
Despite all that, if I should also assess here, I'd have to give even a 4-in multiplayer with both eyes.
Treyarch and Activision have not covered themselves with glory, on the contrary, they have disgraced themselves in parts, by the large, no huge announcements. Should not get the big innovation, with a new engine, new story and a new multiplayer the series died for me next year. Maybe Activision should think about a new development studio once. I know there may be one that has already proved more than once. There is a German studio, sitting in Frankfurt, starts with C and höhrt with ytek on. Instead of serving only at the ideas could they pay the same and can take over the complete development of the next Cod.
