Its definitely worth money: PF830

This review will mainly deal with the product details that stand out during use, but can not be taken from the manufacturer's website.

Hey everybody!
I have the Digital Frame PF830B (ie the black version) bought last week the company Transcend. I must say I am very surprised. But for now more closely.

Processing:
The photo frame made a very good impression right away. It is well made and not looks cheap.

Display:
The brightness of the display is more than sufficient and controllable in three stages. Thanks to a resolution of 800x600 pixels, the images are beautifully sharp and clear.

Display of images:
The PF830 can only play JPEG photos (up to 9000 x 6750), not how often erroneously mentioned BMP files - which seems to be its predecessor (PF810) Reserved (me it is not at least managed and it is in the manufacturer product specification also not indicated).

Positive is necessary to notice: Even with Photos with totally unfavorable, crooked resolution images are clean downscaled and displayed.

Connection options:
The device supports massive memory card formats (SD / SDHC / MMC / CF / microSD / M2 / MS / MS PRO / MS Duo / MS PRO Duo / MS PRO-HG Duo) and USB sticks. I have the memory card function is not required, the USB Flash Drive Support briefly tried (works well), but in the end I just connected it via USB to the PC and the pictures pushed directly onto the internal 2GB Flash. Ok added it takes a while to describe the internal flash (35 minutes 1GB), but in all honesty, that is to cope with it. How often do you have up there pushing those datasets.

I have the photos previously compressed to 1600x1200 pixels, to save space, since my 4000x3000 but appeared slightly oversized. I opted for this format, since I thus still can zoom smoothly, without really sacrificing quality. In the highest JPEG quality I get so about 1,350 photos below on the internal flash. If one does not wish to push you can theoretically reduce the pictures resolution to 800x600 and thus accommodate around 4,000 pictures, but I have to say that the images will no longer be so nice to come over (apparently go more details lost during previous compression than if the Picture Frame images easily downloaded into account).

Service:
The buttons are located on the rear panel and are not really happy to use. It is possible but impractical. I see, however, there is no problem, because I just use the remote control and this find succeeded.

Some complain about the size and number of keys on the remote control, but I must say that saves a before herumfrickeln at the back of the frame, making it really be regarded as positive.
Shortcoming of the remote control is that there is, "Settings" "menu" and "Options" and you need a little while to catch on to that attitude can be found where.

The software operation:
Actually made quite nice, plenty of opportunities, but not very clean and useful structures.

The shortcoming of the software is simple, that the menu is designed to "intelligent".
Left one finds a vertical icon bar, which is a higher-level view of the possibilities. The right is a window that is dependent on the way the left selected the sub options.
If you decide, however, now a sub-option as the menu and sub-options of the right window changes wander left in the icon bar.
That's pretty used to my standards.

The software options:
Very versatile. Much I need not.
The calendar can be fades semitransparent at the bottom. Note: The time is shown for reasons of space only in the horizontal picture frame position.

The music player is very intuitive, easy to use and worked right away.
He also pops up semi-transparent at the bottom of the frame.

A combination of operating calendar and music player is NOT possible.

The animations are more of a gimmick than anything else children. In addition, quite kitschy frame can be laid over the photos. Well if you like it :-)

It can create a variety of slide show transitions are selected. There are about 15 pieces and I think there is something for everyone.
However, it is not possible to select multiple slide transitions. Either one or all by chance - there was saving at the wrong end.

The photo preview will show 20 photos, but partly not the fastest. The pity is that you can not quickly jump a few pages later, there is now only started once to load the preview.

It is nice that in the slideshow, the photos can be played back in random order. This also works across multiple folders away! In addition, it is also possible to select only one folder for playback, or if you also want to own choice (but is rather impractical since the selection takes a long time).

In addition, it should be noted that there is a possibility that a time-controlled device on and off. This was a must for me, as I find it extremely stupid to run the machine at night. It can be an AT and AN are set OFF time.

All in all I think the device is in spite of its small mistake worth more than money. In this price range you really can not expect more.
