With the Mac the Sound Blaster is connected through an included USB cable. Then even the headphone jack is pure and good. Then "Control Panel" is played on the Mac from the installation CD also supplied with which one then can certainly play with the sound and compensate for various ups and downs and also can affect the bass. The two mounted on the Sound Blaster switch for "THX" - or "Scout Mode Sound" to let more Tonbeeinflussungen. However, I now could hear no real difference. Whether I connected the headphones (Denon) directly to your Mac or on the Blaster - only erlauschbar for me were the two differences "THX" - and "Scout Mode". Say, the sound changes even if you back and herswitcht, but not so that I could hear a howsoever geortete space with my ears.
Can boast the original Sony headset comes with the SoundBlaster before nothing at all, because it is so worn only in one ear, and therefore already technically not particularly voluminous tone: On the PlayStation 3 like. So also here with headphones close in on the test. With the PS3 communicates the Sound Blaster using the supplied optical cable. Again, I can already hear a difference between "THX" and "Scout Mode" in direct comparison, but no additional space. Whether I Uncharted 3 or correct Shooter inserted, the sound was not significantly changed in my ears.
However, I must say one thing: The fact that on both systems to compare each time the system settings must change the tone, makes a mandatory audio test in the domestic living room or study more than just difficult.
Thus I forgive average three stars for the SoundBlaster. In my eyes, a nice "Can have" but definitely in my ears no "must have".
