The author of this text has, up to this point, not concerned with the other CDs of the artist. Therefore, to be received on this album only concrete.
Here at Amazon has already been mentioned that Ms. Monheit's voice was difficult to understand what the pleasure somewhat cloudy. I regret to say that I could associate myself with this opinion already after the first hearing. I was not immediately aware of whether it is the singing simply, the calls for more concentration or whether Ms. Monheit not just presents the clearest vocal pronunciation. Whether perhaps even a neglect of the engineers in the game I can evaluate bad. Certainly it is not in any case on the stereo playback chain that was used for this review.
To summarize simply, that people that concentrate particularly on the voice and the lyrics could learn a little disappointment. This should not happen in this kind of music.
Apart from this weakness, which runs almost through the whole CD, but also positive things are to be noted. Since Ms. Monheit offers us quite a lot of variety between meaner pieces with Swing components (track 1) or the most excellent duet with Michael Bublé (Track 5). After half of the total playing time of the album drops slightly and loses of variety among others.
For example, my "Somewhere over the Rainbow" interpretation did not like.
Until then it is possible the CD but to spread a nice musical atmosphere - because if one at all the kind of music like. The latter should, for example. can be estimated at Amazon here with audio examples.
The total playing time is> 58 minutes to note (Limited Edition with 14 tracks) quite as positive, but if the offers "more" playing time, particularly in the second half yet the qualitative value everyone should decide for themselves.
The additional equipment is probably also a matter of taste. The CD comes in a digipack, so who like this kind of CD storage case, which can be booked on the plus side. Where can I just speak from the digipack: Ms. Monheit even graces the cover in a lascivious pose with a relatively wide-neck dress. Such a photograph is rather unusual for this type of artist. I've read several comments on it but I think it's actually not so disreputable, that one would have the same talk of a mismatched "Sex sells" -Werbmaßnahme. Ms. Monheit is quite nice to look at on the cover. The album is presented musically grown up and therefore makes it clear that the artist has no need to attract only with their looks.
