1983 boomed the hip-hop and break-dance scene since jazz veteran Herbie Hancock had the idea to couple this time fresh and new music with his Jazz style. The result is an unusual album, which was for 1983 ahead of its time. Scratches, Breaks and Vocoder characterize many titles including the famous "Rock It" that even a little reminiscent of Kraftwerk, but also soulful guest singers (inside) as in "Future Shock" cause a stir. Constructed similarly to "Rock It" is "Earth Beat" since bucking the bass, vibrating effects as Dub, which comes well. These Hancock (probably partly improvised) jazz key games that break up as a counterpoint to the electronic sounding beats and create the right mood. Succeeded!
