"The Black Halo", the black halo, which has now become the seventh official album of American Power / Symphonic / Prog metallers Kamelot and buttoned (almost) seamlessly to the 2003s works "Epica" on. What are the listener can expect here familiar events. Intelligent classical arrangements, Mombast-chorale and complicated influences of prog Thematically writes "The Black Halo", the story of Ariel and Helena continued, oriented free to Goethe's Faust. It begins sometime in the Middle Ages and höert in the last songs in the presence of. "March Of Mephisto" is surprisingly thick for a Kamelot-opener, provides for Proger among listeners but a successful seizure. Note the bass! But the next three songs "When the Lights Are Down", "The Haunting (Somewhere In Time)" and, in my opinion, excellent showcase number "Soul Society", I simply counted time to the best songs of this band are thrilling Symphonic Metal with catchy and kamelotscher drama in the melody and lyrics. "Interlude I: Dei Gratia 'is like the title says an intro to" Abandoned ", the only purebred ballad on the album, which, compared to" Temples Of Gold "to" Karma "or" Hiking "or" On The Coldest Winter Night "from" Epica "going short. It is interesting but citing "Helena's Theme" the last album. Otherwise known ballads fare is on offer. "This Pain" and the superb "Moonlight" are then somewhere between bombast Metal and Prog. Especially second called very excited.
With "Interlude II: Un Assasino Molto Silenzioso" theme song "The Black Halo" is initiated, a fast, melodic and one of the toughest tracks on the album. "Nothing Ever Dies" will follow this example, but is not quite as good. With "Memento Mori" (short in first "Interlude" addressed) is the secret star of the album. An incredible number with several major issues, sometimes quietly, then quickly and brutally. And with many worth listening to solos. Thematically the leap from past to present is now made: "Interlude III: Twelve Tolls For A New Day" puts us at some point from a New Year's celebration. The new year starts straight. And with the final power number "Serenade" album.
"The Black Halo" is like "Epica" a truly epic work, even though it still lags behind its predecessor in this respect. At drama was still risen slightly and among the 14 tracks you will find truly no bad. Overall, I am so excited that I even imagine the album of my favorites "Karma" and thus it personally is the best album of the band for me.
