As always Ken Follett has (had) researched all the details and THEREFORE it is not only a pleasure to read the enthralling stories of all the families and clans involved but you So get perfect history lessons starting in Book 1 in 1914 with WW1 and ending in Book 3 with the election of Barack Obama. Topics as WW1, The Russian Revolution, WW2, the Cuba Missile Crisis, the Berlin Wall and the GDR (German Democratic Republic), the segregation in the United States, the hippie era, rock 'n' roll and many more important topics of the historic 20th Century in Europe, Russia and the USA are covered and beautifully integrated into the fascinating stories of the five intertwined family American, German, Russian, English, and Welsh.
If you want to learn some historic details of the 20th century and do not want to take a history book or you want your adolescent children to know about the basic historic topics of the 20th century and theywill not touch a history book just buy all three of the novels and (let them) enjoy learning linked with exiting storytelling.
I'm absolutely keen on reading the next novel by Ken Follett Whenever it wants to be published - it can 'get any better but it will surely not get worse ...
