Roaring log fire and howling winds over the marsh, unemotional dialogue: these are the ingredients of the first episode's grave on the moor from the Hörpspiel series Lady Bedfort. The series was the radio play label Osnabrücker Hörplanet and comes from John Beckmann, Michael Eickhorst and Dennis blank. They played in the English village of Broughton and of course as a model unmistakably the Miss Marple detective stories by Agatha Christie. An elderly financially independent woman who solves crimes for which the police is often a lack of motivation. So Lady Bedfort says (voiced by Barbara Ratthey) already in this first episode that Inspector Miller was indeed a nice person, but would have chosen the wrong profession. At her side is the faithful butler Max (voiced by Dennis blank). Barbara Ratthey as spokesperson for the Lady Bedfort is best known as the voice of Estelle Getty from the Golden Girls. Unfortunately, this has been always a bit in your mind when you hear them. Still, she does her job but adequate. Dennis blank as Butler's voice has not convinced me completely, he does not overstate its role, which is actually good, on the other hand he speaks an English butler and as one would expect a stereotyped role. The story is quickly told: It is found a corpse in skeletierte Moor, whereupon Lady Bedfort advises the course clueless police and identified the perpetrators after many years. This is of course in around 50 minutes everything was a bit slippery, therefore, at least there is the end still an ironic twist that is not expected of the handset. Overall, the first episode of a good introduction to a crime radio play with an older lady.
