20 years ago, Polydor has sweetened with us the 3CD box "The Layla Sessions" the 20th anniversary of "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs", and now, 20 years later, the 40th `s (among others) this Deluxe Edition. Thanks to the created based on the original mix 1970 new remasters the original album leaves as punchy as ever experience, although I would have already wanted something more dynamic, a little less compression! Compared with the "20th Anniversary" remix from 1990 to sound the guitars of Eric Clapton and Duane Allman known clearly less dominant, which mix is now the better, is left to personal taste. From the bonus CD I was surprised especially the excellent sound quality of the four live tracks from the Johnny Cash Show. The outtake "Mean Old World" and the two single-track "Tell The Truth" and "Roll It Over" are indispensable for an anniversary edition, unlike the last six tracks from the 1971 Studio Sessions for not completed second DATD album where the boys were much less inspired than the recordings of 1970th Schade and incomprehensible, I find that the new remaster the equally grandiose album "Derek and the Dominos In Concert" so far (?) As a part of the 40th anniversary also appeared Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs (Ltd. Super Del. Edt. ) is available!
