As a system camera users, it was important for me to find a "slim" solution without much screwing around.
In the collapsed state "extended" the lens hood the respective lens to only about 0.7 mm. The camera is equipped with a folded aperture slightly larger than without cover. Therefore I let the lens hood almost always bolted on the lens. A positive side effect: Due to the length even "application" of about 0.7 mm is obtained an additional lens and lens cover.
The folding mechanism works simply and perfectly. If the panel requires pulling lightly on the shutter and this unfolds automatically - snapped out. The lens hood is not flabby but quite firmly. If the panel is no longer required, pressing slightly from the front against it and the lens hood snaps back into the folded state. In flash photography with built-in flash, it is recommended course unscrew the lens hood as it may cause shadowing otherwise.
Now remains to be seen how long the lens hood remains functional until the rubber becomes brittle or gets a crack. So far, however, no appreciable fatigue reveals despite rigorous use.
Is negative to mention that the panel completely compatible with the M.Zuiko is 14-42mm II. For smaller focal lengths than 18mm arise when unfolded vignetting.
Furthermore, the Gegenlichblende does a better job as a "swivel" for polarizing filter. If you just screwed the polarizing filter on the lens and on it there then the lens hood, the Polarisatoinsfilter can turn quite well without interfering fingers into the "field of vision" come and impede the adjustment.
