How to say that we know Metallica if one does not know the album 1984 (20 years!)? That's it, despite a sound that may seem a little primitive, Metallica has become a key group, thanks to songs like headlights Fade to Black (mixed with melodic overkill), For Whom the Bell Tolls (a simplicity and a stunning efficiency) and of course the terrifying Creeping Death (song about the revolt of the Jewish people against Egypt -! terrible words) ... Just these three titles have become absolutely essential in Live, but can be add the sublime Call of the Ktulu, the traditional instrumental that closes the album in the most beautiful way. Ride the Lightning is a record that shows that Metallica really stands out from the rest of the world of Heavy Metal: they are powerful, but not nag; they make melodies, but no soup ... The rest of the album is also very nice, except Escape (frankly you do not have to listen to the end), the group is always talking about death in all its aspects (suicide, drowning, war .. .) so do not be stopping by the words, they go well with this music that alternates smooth and total fury, and it's perfect like that! No wonder they have become a legend! Even Cliff Burton, who died too early, deserves to be included. Five stars, but I would put 10 again!
