Customer Review

One or the other users will Faun have only recently discovered and now ask what the reviews are actually here. Just someone who Faun is already longer knows might be wondering what to expect with this album. I try to these questions to give an answer.

At Faun:
Faun has himself long time classified in the genre "Pagan-folk". The demarcation to the classic folk here is to see the one in some instruments, a strong affinity with nature and the mystical, ballads orient Erten text selection. Over time Faun has repeatedly accomplished musically interesting change of direction (eg through increased synthesizer application), without, however, thereby completely to convert. For New Year towards cooperation with the major label Universal Music and the music production company Elephant (Santiano, Schnappi, DJ Ötzi) was announce. The new CD "From the Elves" is the first result of this collaboration.

Reviews:
Among the reviews to find many old Faun fans who condemn the new album heavily, but this does not necessarily evaluate the album alone, but has come against the background of the unique genius music Faun with the previous albums. On side of the positive reviews can be found on the one hand, both old and new Faun fans who like the album for several reasons. Unfortunately, some reviews is Amazon, which are under strong suspicion that this was produced commercially. A reflection of the album is in the latter hardly takes, but instead will make use of common phrases.

Songs selection:
The songs on the CD were composed heterogeneous, have as special common only German singing. In range of new editions of old songs (Andro, Of the Elves) enough about cover versions (Shout it etc in the wind and his own compositions (thyme and rosemary) and duets (Dance with me, Minno 2013) to songs of Elephant Music was composed.

Album review:
Faun apply instrumental in the "Medieval Scene" exalted as beyond all doubt. Also on the current CD they prove that they have mastered their instruments splendid. In the foreground is usually the vocals of new singer Katja Moslehner. The rhythms are catchy and many a song has catchy. Those who wish to engage in a technically strong album with catchy melodies and special instruments, which will be here perhaps surprised beyond the mainstream and place so maybe access to a music that something is just different than what one otherwise so accustomed ,

Nevertheless, there are many songs not about musical feats, but rather ordinary song material. The accusation of -haften "hit" is not unfounded, baseless or in space. Whether this is to assess positive or negative I can objectively but not to judge. But the fact is: While Faun with Eden a very intense, unique album has yet succeeded, one must unfortunately "Von den Elben" many times accuse an irrelevance and lack of ideas that is uncharacteristic of Faun easy. Here are a few points of criticism:

-While Faun previously set to music mostly lyrically interesting works (ballads, poems from various periods, as well as cultures), the texts appear in "Von den Elben" very adapted and tailored to a less demanding target group. Thus Faun loses much of the mystical image that older albums were able to draw.
- Many songs have known pop-like melody progressions. In particular, the choruses stand out negatively here.
- Santiano and Eric Fish on a Faun album could well be considered critical.
- The beautiful song of the main singer Oliver sa Tyr and also by Fiona Rüggeberg can be heard only in a few songs. Alone can allow a lot Faun-Ahtmosphäre. Katja as a new singer I can hardly judge. The sound of the vocal line is this too much reworked, thereby exerting too much adjusted.
- The album as a whole is quite short. The songs also. Overall, the song is very much in the foreground. The instruments disappear Faun uncharacteristically strong in the background. If you are looking in the gallery Faun will also find Faun, but you must listen very closely, unfortunately. In particular, I would like to emphasize however, the flute of Fiona that many songs but then again rescues.
- On the positive side, however, the hurdy-gurdy play of Stephan Groth, which represents an asset for Faun. Overall, you can in some places in the gallery but the instrumental development Faun (Of the same urges as a song on here) hear and you should also reward.

Conclusion: the handset offers a unique band that has unfortunately given up with the album "From the same" some of their individuality. To what extent one welcomes or condemns this adaptation to mainstream everyone has probably decide for themselves. Certainly Faun will scare with this album a lot of old fans, but to gain new ones. The boundary between "beautiful" and "gruesome-adjusted" is in any case very thin. As an old Faun fan, I am extremely disappointed by the album, however, after closer listening discover in individual songs also positive elements, so I use the 1-star reviews do not wish to join. In fact I had to turn off very quickly in some songs, but there are still quite a few others on the CD where you Faun still can feel.

While many old fans now surely turn away in horror and the album and the way the fauna of sharpest condemn, it can be for one or the other Neuhörer perhaps the Discovery of the Year to be. But anyone who wants to experience once really good music, which were then but the older albums of Faun and the live performances to heart.
