I have an open mind in listening effort as possible in the album, it was to give me a concern the new songs really have a chance. Unfortunately, meets the music presented here but not my taste. "Luna" joins in style and sound directly behind its predecessor one, so following in the footsteps of "Out of the same". Percussion, flute, bagpipes and hurdy-gurdy are indeed in the songs present, yet adheres to the songs of Luna album that Schlager and pop style of which is probably to be attributed to the influence of Universal. Meanwhile, let the cover hope for a turnaround. Posed the Faune before even as the Avengers on "Out of the same", affects the Luna-title picture again significantly understated, contemplative and mystical. The songs but act too smooth, they are styled by the Bank. You could with older songs like "Hymn to Pan" or "Rihannon" yet the illusion indulge, the fauns making music in the Nordic wilderness before the inner eye to see, you can with this album the impression of an ultra-modern high-tech recording studios not help. And precisely here lies the subtle difference for me. The magic, clinging to earlier albums, just trasportiert also a form of illusion. It may be that one or the other song is not been properly musically - I can not judge this as a layman. But ultimately that was not important. The personal touch, that special something, the magic of illusion ... whatever you want to call it, it seems to have lost the faunas. Whether here with Universal adhesion contracts are in the background or the group really stands behind their new style, I can not say. The success and notoriety is the artists indulged in any case. From a financial standpoint, I can quite understand the Faune so. As a listener who still loves to enjoy the old albums, but I am sorry to bring back my disappointment expressed this time.
Too bad, I also think that the songs of the German language are overweight. The linguistic diversity has always been an attractive element in the songs of the band. This is omitted here significantly. But texts in Old Norse or Middle High German demand probably another time, which - as I assume - does not agree with the time pressure, the Universal imposes its commercial bands. War "Eden" nor a project where the group has been working for several years, acts "Luna" as a quick shot in between CD. What the songs lack a soul.
CONCLUSION:
I have to rate this album also rather negative, really sorry. The artists certainly identify with this work. The fact that you look at the many negative reviews of the last album but obviously not so much to heart that you've made a U-turn to the Old Faun style, surprised me quite a bit. For people who like mass-market, highly polished and styled songs with a hint of paganism and the Middle Ages, Luna is quite recommendable. Who is while listening to his music in search of deep, strong expression or even transcendence, which will be here probably more disappointed. One can hear the music by the way - but even more do not.
