The old pagan medieval style of the songs here suffers heavily from the pop elements, which are in stages intrusive dominant staged. This is the very first track "Gone with the Wind" unmistakable.
That time only German songs are present, I found equally regrettable. The interplay orientlischer, Celtic and Old Norse elements emfpand I have always considered very sexy. These were not just by a variety of instruments present, the language taught here ultimately its own charm that has been lost this album more. With sadness, I am thinking back to songs like "Egil Saga", for which the group has even consulted an Icelandic professor, to find an appropriate emphasis on the Old Norse language elements.
Originally the group started as a trio. Without Vitamin B the small trio has lifted itself out of the woodwork, has developed his own style and became simply acted in recent years within the Pagan-folk and medieval scene as the group. For FAUN is therefore certainly been a great career move that Universal has offered here as a partner. However, this also a step towards mainstream has been made of course. I emfpinde now in principle not to be negative, artist and wish to continue to evolve. Unfortunately, a rough cut was made with this album but which may not satisfy the old fans.
OMNIA was going on a little wiser. The last album "Musick & poetree" has the fan base not split, but they were smart enough to present the new style on a separate second CD while could be heard on Cd 1 songs in the tried and true character. So could "Musick & poetree" actually evaluate not really bad, a rating below 3 star would not have been the album justice.
"Von den Elben" reconciled here far less. The song "Andro II" has succeeded (but also only partially new), with "This cold night" Faun has certainly done a ballad, has the potential to catchy song. That was it but also already. As well as the new music video for "This cold night" is "Von den Elben" generally a well-styled product for the mass, which lacks any passion. Bearing in mind that the group several years (I think there were about 4) has been working on the album "Eden", this new product acts as a short-lived rapid design that was pressed times fast in high-tech studio on Cd.
During the Christmas season of 2011, I was allowed to experience FAUN at the former Eden tour. It was a brilliant spectacle, almost a pagan festival, have danced at the approximately 150 people to the "Hymn to Pan". The refrain -from Oliver Sa Tyr was aware gezogen- in the length mitintoniert the audience like a mantra. Rarely have I seen such a hammer-like atmosphere at a concert. That such a mood with these songs still comes up, I can not imagine truly. To act soulless beats to empty and hochtechnisiert the garb of this album seems to be.
I have to let go of such criticism to the group, actually I am sorry. As an artist you identify strongly with his work safely. Ultimately helps criticism but also help to develop itself. Its own blind spot to not be seen halt, one is dependent on feedback from outside. In this sense I wish the group a return to the traditional elements that have identified for me FAUN. Perhaps this is also aware of no longer wanted ?! Possibly FAUN oriented now more on the ground, considering the financial aspect, so this is of course understandable. Artistically I empfände it -as obviously many fans - a true loss!
