Aaliyah (Audio CD)

Customer Review

"The Good Die Young", a phrase that has Tupac his time uttered and will probably always have meaning, unfortunately, in the case of Aaliyah, who had to leave in 2001 at the age of just 22 years after a plane crash tragically their lives. Your self-titled album sold through death incredibly well over 12 million copies worldwide. 2004 This re-release is exclusively pressed and released with 3 new and 1 bonus track of the former UK version on disk for Germany. Produced "Aaliyah" largely by Timbaland and his protégé Static Major (RIP), which are the only features simultaneously.

Right from the start is not stingy with hits. The Firecracker "We Need A Resolution" opens the disc with a great production by Timbaland. The usual bassline, as they are known even today, strikes a dramatic overbearing violins and a couple of slightly crazy-sounding electronic sounds. Aaliyah convinced lyrical indeed, yet it only acts as another tool by Timbaland, the real star of the song. "Loose Rap" convinces with taut beats and a nice guitar playing, is suitable for dancing as well as to relax, which is due to the mix of fast music with amplitude, smooth vocals of Aaliyah and Static. That also very relaxed, summery fresh and beautifully melodic "Rock The Boat" another of the Smashes, unfortunately this song will adhere forever Aaliyah's death because happened on the way back from the video shoot known misfortune.

What I really like about Aaliyah is that she was not one of the typical pop doll, but also brought songs with statement done so including "More Than A Woman", another masterpiece of Timbaland. Rhythmic hammer beats plus a dreamy melody that leaves no one untouched and is for Aaliyah's vocals like a glove. Quite big tennis! After such a smash a few Slow Jams are very attached. You can listen to it, among others, "Never No More" and "I Care 4 U", whereby especially the Second truly gets under your skin and noticed again by the dream duo Aaliyah / Timbaland. Hot club beats you get against it again with "Extra Smooth" timbered on the ears, which probably makes only the singing of the name. Great Latin Flavor was on offer with "Read Between The Lines". His instrumental of trumpets, bass and various other Elemtenten packs a simple and forcing a formally to move with. Besides the vocal performance is again top.

Really great, it goes right with "U Got Nerve", a small dig at all the machos. Very convincing, the tempo changes here. During the verses everything seems more relaxed and simply, so that you can follow Aaliyah well, in the chorus then goes right from the mail and you can feel all the power that has put into this woman. "It's Whatever" goes in the ballad direction, is therefore correspondingly slowly and is dominated by a piano. Overall, another nice song, but not an absolute highlight. "I Can Be" initially starts very sedate, one thinks almost, it would be a renewed Slow Jam, but out of nowhere to start crunching guitar riffs going to boom, which the variety of this album shows good, even if you say to this song must be that it is clearly a matter of taste and not guaranteed each will appeal. So it is good that with "Those Were The Days" a pure and very groovy R'n'B song from the forge Static Major's coming next and returns the usual style of Aaliyah.

"What If" is another rock number, but also contains a few synth effects and thanks to Aaliyah's great idea to real hit is. On the original US release in 2001 now it was over, but a buyer can enjoy this version 4 more pieces. The beginning makes this my favorite song, namely "Try Again". Once again responsible for this Hit: Timbaland. He tinkered again a club banger, but which also has an emotional side, so you can listen to her is also very good at home, while white Timbo again how to use Aaliyah perfectly, hence this mega-hit. Relaxed and also incredibly soulful is designed with guitar "I Miss U", which indeed revolves around a deceased person, but is suitable for couples and for hours. To "Do not Know What To Tell Ya" you have to really not much to say except: Aaliyah and Timbaland - great! The final song "Erica Kane" pale in comparison though as a small sausage, is yet another very nice number.

It's really a pity that Aaliyah had to die. One can only dream of what they would have achieved everything. "Aaliyah" is a really good album that can score with versatility, high quality and meaningful texts, without being cluttered or too strenuous, so it's a record that you can listen without problems again and be touched. Each of the good on R'n'B stands should definitely listen again, but even a blind slamming is probably hardly a bereuhen.

RIP Aaliyah
