Currently I have installed the hard disk in a Windows desktop PC. In this already tinkers a 2TB hard drive from Western Digital that works reliably for 4 years. Since 4 TB are for my taste a bit much for a system that I'll get a medium to long term hard drive enclosure and henceforth use the newer hard drive as backup storage for my extensive gaming and music collection.
A feature of this hard drive is its low RPM speed. This ensures a low noise level when retrieving data, but can adversely affect the write / read speed and. The latter is reflected in the duration of copying operations that occur rarely with more than 40 MB / s. My current standard hard drive has similar specifications (64 MB Cache, 5400 RPM) and brakes the everyday operation on a leisurely pace, which manifests itself mainly in loading screens.
Conclusion
As data storage for backups and collections of all kinds, this Western Digital hard drive is a sensible purchase in my eyes. In addition to an SSD or an external hard drive is obtained for a moderate price a brand HDD with high storage capacity.
