To my expectations: I also own an XBOX360 with Forza 3, which I also like. Therefore, I will use this item more often for comparison because it is in my opinion the direct competitor of GT5. I figured if GT5 as Forza 3 so similar, only with better multiplayer, I am fully satisfied. This quite realistic expectations but was apparently already too high.
For this purpose, an explanation: I thought the MP of GT5 is so, as he was in GT5P. Targeted racing events for beginners, Semis and professionals. I had in fact missed at Forza, as it goes on here way too chaotic and really is no way for the driver to be competitive without driving aids, unless you create yourself a game.
In GT5 but this is worse. There are no more events, but only created by players race that you can not adequately filter. Only "slip-stop" can filter out one, but this is far too little. So you have again a bunch of races where anything goes, where again lots of Spaßtröten mischief and a slide off the track. I understand that although you can enable penalties, but it does not. Even the now published patch the uncorrected.
Here I come straight to the next point of criticism: there are no vehicles and credits as in Forza namely the MP as well as the SP. This means on the one hand, the one with the most powerful cars is competitive in the MP and the other hand in the SP that you never know whether you now have an equivalent to the opponents vehicle. So you can even beginners with a powerful race car contest, with the same one all lapped.
What I was particularly shocked, is the low development since GT5P. Where is the long development time gone? Most of the game content still comes from GT4. This applies even about 80% of the vehicles that were simply taken from GT4 and also look like this: without cockpit, a few details, no damage, a huge contrast to the truly successful premium vehicles. Some routes were made directly by GT4 and see more like this. Once you have great redesigned routes where even fall apart stacks of tires, in other one has rectangular tire barriers and age-old textures from GT4.
Furthermore, the game has some errors in the details that are not true so bad, but bother me anyway:
Once there is again no reasonable clutch pedal support. This goes back only about the trick with the triangle button as in the Prologue. Then the HUD can not be disabled. The fittings, except for the tachometer and speedometer, not working. In Forza least the clock is correct. The travel options are not saved. At each event, I have to shut down every time a lot of driving aids manually.
Although there are upgrades like in Forza, but much less detailed here. While you can buy in Forza components that really exists, there is in GT5 partially only upgrade steps that just improve that property. Also I can buy for my '69 Camaro Z28 with a carburetor chip tuning. What shoud that? Here, care was taken in Forza to much more detail. May change visually to many cars barely. Often you can only change the color and fit other wheels.
But now up to the good stuff: the ride is great. On consoles there will be no better. You really get the feeling that would react in reality even as the car, as in the game.
The graphics are, apart from the terrible-Angular Flimmerschatten and tearing really excellent - if you drive with premium cars on "new" routes that have been copied not only from GT4. Also GT5 one of the few games is the offer 1080p, unscaled.
Also, the photo mode is great. That will not interest most, but so you can make really spectacular shots that you can watch over and over again.
Conclusion:
GT5 is good and offers an almost unrivaled driving experience. A very good graphics, with small errors is poor AI against the only racing line moves. Is it the way you will be pushed away mercilessly. Many cars (most) and routes was almost unchanged from GT4 - here would be less been back. If you use the time of importing from GT4 for new things, although the game content would be lower, but immaculate. The standard vehicles I will never use, because a lack of cockpit view for me is a no-go. The lack of vehicles is incomprehensible.
Nevertheless, to get my opinion as a fan of racing games not past it. With luck, maybe some of the criticism can be corrected in future patches.
