That's different now - on 'Frail' (dt: delicate, fragile) is the album title program: the ten songs are about cold, suffering, death and fragility; the arrangements are mostly reduced to the essentials; the pieces are almost always full of melancholy and fascinating intensity. Often Maria accompanied only by acoustic guitar, violin or piano and sets as its sensitive and fragile-warm voice such in the spotlight that you can not do not like to crawl into the speaker and hug them. Heart thief that! Because Maria Solheim somehow manages not to enrich the saddest song with a touch of hope and confidence.
Comparisons I wanted to actually pay, but Björk parallels to exist (at least according to my ears) definitely not - then already more likely to Suzanne Vega, PJ Harvey or Kathryn Williams. Conclusion: you buy, lo and behold! Hopefully there are many more in future releases of this extraordinary songwriter.
