So, now but the CD. As can be imagined before, I am a big fan of Within Temptation. Delain goes in the same direction, but it is still different. Although Delain is usually described as a symphonic metal band, I find are sure to hear relatively little classical instruments. There are heavier guitars.
The first four songs are simultaneously my favorite songs. Especially in Here Come the Vultures I like the quiet entry and how the song then explodes after a good half minute. A great interplay of high, low and Charlotte's voice.
Stylistically, I find My Body is a Battleground (apart from the male vocals) and My Masquerade quite similar (but I did well like). Stardust is a catchy tune. Not quite as hard and a little lighter fare, but very good.
What also is worth mentioning yet that at Sing To Me Marco Nightwish occurs as a guest musician. Even though I really like his voice in general, the song can not convince 100%, which does not mean that it is bad me.
Now comes my only gripe: The songs are all very nice, but there are no major differences. Therefore, I recommend in any case to buy the version with bonus CD (if there ever is another). With Scarlett you get a beautiful ballad and Do not Let Go combines metal with dance elements, but what fits here very well and simply offers a little variety. The live versions (especially of Go Away) are super.
I would particularly like to emphasize also the excellent songwriting! Seems a special talent of Westerholt to be.
Conclusion: A little more variety would have been nice. On the other hand, if something is good, then why even big a difference? In addition, a great harmony between songs is given. The Human Contradiction you want to hear no more out of his hand, and thus is the goal achieved for me a few times: So 5 star!
