They function practically independent of sunlight on battery operation. I find this to be useful, as solar lights in the autumn and winter but weaken and have difficulty charging. A set of batteries would have the manufacturer can still attach as original equipment in view of the high price.

The cold white light provides reasonably-lit paths. Too much light output you should not expect, however. Overall, the light falls from rather weak.
