First, when Scars on Broadway is a side project of the second voice and guitarist Daron Malakian of System of a Down (SOAD). A true brat! And so it sounds then essentially also to healthy slant, experimentally, a colorful mix of musical styles, sometimes very rough texts and a lot of passion. In this project, Mr. Malakian But is the first voice that he has recently been more and more often even when SOAD.
The guitar playing of Malakian offers nothing new. Only through the elimination of the extremely concise voice Serj Tankjans which also can SOAD lend a certain elegance, here the most important differences can be observed. And yes, it is a little softer than SOAD.
So what remains? Saugute Mucke !!! Malakian kicks off vocally like Johnny Rotten aka John Lydon in best PIL times stung just as from a tarantula to well to fall right back into a cuddly melody that would be any good hit. How is that for an angle? How cool is that?
What follows is the pure variety and thus tension. As clearly makes us Malakian how simplistic and tends embarrassing classical music radio with their predictability is yet ?! He does not seem to be holy. Everything is him right. Nothing is spared. At the latest in Chemicals is clear how the Lord is knitted. Not for gentle souls and assembled Gutbürger. Click here for the cause. It's dirty!
Each time a listening test takes the project once more under his spell. It rocks, it grooved, it provokes and makes a good mood. The music fits many occasions. Has virtually no wear and tear. Long-term quality! Clear 5 Stars.
