Marmot Precip vs Sherpa Khumjung

Marmot Men's Jacket Pre-Cip (Sports Apparel)

Customer Review

About Bergfreunde.de I have to choose to send two raincoats. Thank you for this service. Short for information. I am 186 cm tall and have long arms. The Sherpa Khumjung I ordered in size XXL and the Marmot Precip in size XL.
Both jackets are extremely easy and practical to store with about 350 g in each equipment. Both coaches are meticulously crafted in the seam and at the corners and the seams on the inside gummed again to prevent moisture from getting inside. Also located on the embroidered logos located inside a rubber coating. Very nice. Both have the same technical equipment with 10,000 mm water column. Breathable is in direct comparison with the Marmot 17000 gm to 10,000 gm at the Sherpa. The Sherpa has a white lining, the Marmot a creamy white. Edler and valent but feels basically the Sherpa on because they crease less and has a barely visible square pattern that looks very chic. I have both ordered jackets in black and the Sherpa is clearly blacker, while the Marmot comes somewhat bluish. Both shapes feel generally good, with the Marmot rustle more, so does something louder noise when running. Both jackets run extremely long. The XL Marmot ranges between wrist and ankle, so optimum length. The XXL Sherpa goes over the ankle and is actually too long. But considering that you could still wear a jacket under the rain protection, you should in principle impose any fashionable frippery. Dear somewhat larger for most who do not have as long arms, the XL is therefore perfectly adequate.
Let's talk about equipment. Both jackets have two side pockets that are externally well protected against moisture. While the Sherpa has sewn into the pockets lining, can be found at the Marmot against only one internal network. Everything inside the case, so ends up in a coarse net, dangling in the jacket. Even if the jacket is regarded as waterproof, I would like to still accommodate not a smartphone. Real protection provides only the Sherpa who also has a Napoleon pocket (sloped chest pocket) over the heart. Here is really room for a cell phone, an MP3 player or a purse and can be easily reached with his right hand. This liner can also invert and wrap up the whole jacket fact - if you like it.
The zips at the front are designed very differently. The Sherpa has a rubberized zipper which is internally provided with a tab so that no rain can come inside. For the zipper runs a little harder. How long does this, be times undecided. The Marmot is designed in a classic, with a standardized gross zipper, which has its protective flap outside, because the zipper is not alone waterproof. The principle is often used for jackets. The flap is then held in place with Velcro to the jacket. When you open the zipper one must first solve the Velcro and then opens the jacket. Inside is no protection. This solution carries forward very well and does not look so good. The Sherpa is again one step ahead and provides a more elegant solution that is at least as waterproof as mandatory, provided that the zipper holds over the years.
The Marmot -Regenjacke has a collar with lining. The hood can be rolled and sent fasten behind the neck with Velcro. The finds also more common in jackets. That does not exist in the Sherpa. The jacket goes on there in the hood and can not be stowed away somewhere. But honestly. When it rains, I will remain completely dry, because the rain would indeed penetrate into the jacket if the hood is not attached. I personally do not mind the hood back. And whoever rolls already in practice on his hood? Actually only frills which only makes sense if the jacket is worn as a windbreak, because both jackets provide a very good protection against wind and have been designed for even so.
Compared to the Sherpa provides the Marmot underarms a ventilation system that can be opened with a zipper. This is very well thought out and makes sure sense, especially if you still should work up a sweat in the rain times. I have but this feature and noticed that while running the openings are almost always covered by the arms precisely. So the question naturally arises, does this really make sense? But it makes you feel good when you have it and this equipment has made me initially hard for me to choose the right jacket.
Finally, an argument was found to be pregnant: the hood. Do you know that? They run and the hood will depend the extent face that your field of vision is severely restricted? Exactly that is what happened at the Marmot. The Sherpa hood is cut generally smaller and can be lashed at the back with a rubber band and holder. Side Two lashing straps ready to fit your head perfectly. For this is also a small screen incorporated. The US has its Marmot Jacket designed seemingly for cowboys who still want to put a hat. In forums it is recommended to take a peaked cap. Hello There? Since you can save with the jacket weight, only to put up with an additional cap again one better. Dümmer gehts never
This has finally convinced me that Sherpa to buy, especially since both jackets with approximately 120, - to beat Beech and you may also have certain expectations for that price. In addition, the Sherpa makes besides the triftigeren arguments - when buying a better Chill because this jacket is produced in Nepal and there drive sustainable projects. The mammoth is a pure China-product. So, after these experiences, the decision quite clearly, right?

NOTE a comment:
I am a private person and give false information but honest experiences from which I have done in direct comparison with two jackets. Here is subjective findings, which are described objectively as opposed to commentary that wants me insinuate any economic interests. That's not my level!
The Velcro-setting results in comparison to the Sherpa only marginal Verschlimmbesserungen. I did not succeed, the oversized hood, under the - as pointed out a cowboy hat fits - so justly draw to enclose the head clean. I'm sure that you do not manage it well and you notice the hood in the face again, no matter at what level drawstring pull forward or backward.
The underarm ventilation has not proved useful for me, because the approximately 40 cm long slits are covered by the arms in almost all cases, unless you walk with your hands through the area. Nevertheless, a good feature. However, I doubt the usefulness in practice.
