In this "Fifth" recorded in 1957, the interpretation of Jean Martinon adopts a harsh tone and modernist, and eradicates in heavy environments, heady, suffocating ... Strong individualities sound of the orchestra of the Conservatory exhale bewitching instrumental textures and deliver a singularly incantatory reading. The Andante has rarely seemed so strange, so the Adagio hypnotic, Marcato if the nightmare as a prey to mussitation.
Even more puzzling than that of Antal Dorati (Mercury), that's a good version of the most unusual discography offered.
The same goes for this reading of the "Seventh" tormented into the meanders of its initial Moderato. Not to mention the Scherzo and Finale, harangued like a juggler number.
