Masterpiece 39 1

This book marked me deeply. For me, it is a masterpiece away by a virtuoso writing and language inventions of incredible wealth. Those who would seek to a simple novel SF or fantasy might be disappointed. It is something else, a literary unclassifiable.

Reading the first three pages is confusing, then we enter the book jerk, force of arms, thighs, facing the onslaught. The story is told by the 23 characters that make up the horde, and it is not a style of writing, a language that takes the narrative, that is 23 different, as far as characters. Because they all have spoken, their vocabulary, their culture, their mental world and progressively reading one learns to recognize the first words. These 23 characters are incredibly endearing, because it is through them that we live each event of this story.

Beyond the writing, there is of course history, breathtaking, and makes reading this book very physical. Spring is physically exhausted from reading certain passages as it is caught in the eddies of the story. It is a novel that can not be read so distanced, you're bound away, brinquebalé from page to page. It is a book that reads the wind. The action is omnipresent, sometimes experienced front, sometimes told in retrospect, when the storm calms down.

And there at the end, which we suspected, that was feared, but is by no means a disappointment, it had to happen, logically get there. And what a feat to get there, exactly! Unlike other readers who admit disappointed by this, I found it great.

Finally, I will say that it is simply one of the best books I've read, that whole passages come to my mind as soon as a breeze comes up and then back up the collar of my coat, and probably longer accompany me. It is rather revealing to note, on reading the various comments that readers either love or hate.

I have not yet read the Outside Zone. I wait a bit as the Horde effect fades.
