Masterpiece of a man who saw many things, and (even more) heard!

It seems to be so general that a temporal distance "objectifying" brings character with itself. Once the initial euphoria, or "hype" seems gone to a new thing remains - more or less - the "true" nature, the innermost core or the "real" quality alone back. And if what remains, then still sufficient to virtually go to evoke emotions or simply to inspire, then you can probably truly timeless and will not die, speak of a real "classic".
Now, what this introduction? THE MAN COMES AROUND is now soon another 10 years ago and in 2011 was re-released and re-released ...

I am certainly not the largest Johnny Cash fan on earth, have only this slice here and the compilation "Ring Of Fire: The Legend Of Johnny Chash" (perhaps one of the best best-of compilations at all) at home in my CD Cabinet stand and bin - like many others of my generation (born in '85) probably - the first time by the course of "Walk The Line" - the film with Mr. Phoenix (well worth seeing, as before) revived Johnny Cash hype so really come with its music and lifework in touch.
Meanwhile - as it seems - this hype has evaporated again, and what remains is the music.
And although Mr. Cash has achieved a lot of very interesting and admirable musical achievements in his biography with security, I find this very last stage - to make it now because even going to this work - personally the most interesting.

Mr. Cash aka The Black Man takes on THE MAN COMES AROUND especially foreign composed pieces. That to "Melancholiehymne" become HURT (Nine Inch Nails) is then included as well as about Personal Jesus (Depeche Mode) or IN MY LIFE (The Beatles).
The remarkable thing is that Mr. Cash did not create with his interpretation of the songs mere cover versions, but that he has given the songs a completely new character, who is also the listeners a completely - providing access - so far unknown! It seems as if they were actually Johnny Cash songs - so much feeling put mitdrinnen here!

Added to this is that producer Rick Rubin has really done a great job. The mood of the song was excellently captured, atmospheric pieces fit together perfectly: the songs themselves, the whole presentation of the disc, total album.
Ehrlich: Since no wishes remain unfulfilled, provided, of course, you do not lays THE MAN COMES AROUND as "Partyanheizer" into the plant! The album tends more to melancholic because in carefree happiness, although yes can just lead consciously dealing with painful contents and moods The second one!
And: It is a more than worthy, thoroughly enjoyable "late work" (so hackneyed that word now may already sound) of a man who has seen much and heard even more so!
In other words, Mr. Cash knows what he wants and how he has to dissect the songs, smash and reassemble in order to give them an authentic, loving and melancholic character can cash. More seriously. Many of the songs contained on this please me personally better than the originals jew (although who were already very good).

Conclusion: THE MAN COMES AROUND is "great cinema" for the ears (the cinema to be played out in his head from). For music gourmets and collectors I think it is even inevitable. Johnny Cash fans will then not do without anyway. And: Even people who do not feel Johnny Cash so much connected, could - yes - should even try this plate here ...
